I love this theme by John Williams. Super bad and a little bit quirky.
Also Alexander Courage's arrangements for the cue's: "Confrontation/Tornado
and Volcano are the highlights of the score. As soon as the bass line kicks in you know something badass is coming.
It's just ashame the movie is so goofy.

Just a quick comment, the theme kicks serious ass.

The drums are cheesy, but you can't beat that brass!

This theme is a lot of fun. It's Ride of the Valkyries going into what sounds like a minor version of the 1941 march's descending line. Perfect for Nuclear Man. The tritone underneath can be found in a previous Williams/Courage collaboration. Check out Fiddler on the Roof, track 7, "Tevye's Dream" from 2:52-2:58 (either release).

This was such an unexpected highlight in the Blue Box for me. Unmistakable Williams having a ton of fun. Courage sure knew how to handle Williams' baton.

Fantastic... When the box set was announced by FSM... it was an immediate purchase due to the wealth of music contained. The added bonus of having the previously unreleased Superman IV: Quest For Peace contained in the set was/is wonderful.

The Nuclear Man Theme... Great. Exciting. Very energetic. The list goes on.

There's absolutely no truth to those rumors.

Sometimes a baton is just a baton.

I can definitely hear a jumbled mix of Star Wars Imperial March.

Well this thread came out of the archives.

Since listening to the new LLLR release of this score, the Nuclear Man theme has been running through my head for almost a week.

So much fun to be had listening to this score.

It's too bad the original 1987 album never came out, this would have been a wonderful soundtrack.

With a little tweaking to the orchestration I hear the main horn line and rhythm as a precursor to JW's style in the Star Wars prequels.

I always thought it reminded me of his Crimebuster theme from HEARTBEEPS.
But I haven't listened to it for ages, so I could be completely misremembering it.

Aren't they just! I'll add in the synths as a whole are cheesy and haven't aged well. Somehow that growling sound for Nuclear Man manages to irritate me in ways even the "fart" sounds from Goldsmith's Rambo II didn't.

Thankfully the synths in this score were kept to a minimum. Superman IV is a quality score otherwise.

In what way does this LaLa Land release add to the FSM-box?

It's an identical master, just standalone and with new packaging. Mostly for people who didn't already buy the Blue Box.

Gottta echo the remarks about cheesiness and Heartbeeps. This always sounds to me like some kind of doopey Lost in Space update, and that's not a good thing. I can always enjoy Williams' brass licks and interesting harmonic movement, but honestly this always sounded uninspired and going-through-the-motions to me.

But then, I was flabbergasted at how awful the movie was when I saw it back in the day, so maybe I'm just still scarred.

Next to "Carbon Freeze", it was one of my most anticipated Williams tracks to finally hear, and Courage adapts it to fit his own variations with unbelievable glee. If I could, I'd hug it.
