It is too long, and they should have cut all of the flash backs from San Francisco, other than that, this film is not nearly as bad as the critics suggest.

I've seen worse movies. This one was just not very exciting or interesting. Actually started dozing at the mid-point. The last half hour was fun, I guess.

Well, the picture was shown on USA last night so I got to see it free of charge. All I can say is, I want my money back. What a ghastly burlesque. To think of the amount of money spent by a collective group of completely clueless people is truly mind-boggling. What a shameful waste of those spectacular locations. A cynical mess.

I just never really got what upset everyone with the movie. I loved it. And the score is sublime. One of my favourites ever infact.

Sure it was uneven and had issues, especially the pointless framing sequence. But the only thing that bugged me was the Ranger being a buffoon until the climax. The fact that the film bombed meant that we will never see a movie where he's the guy he's meant to be.

As far as Tonto being an equal, well surely we knew that was going to happen however good or bad it turned out. Sidekicks aren't sidekicks anymore. Look no further than my lifelong favourite Doctor Who. And in this sense it was understandable that they'd get Depp, who they must have thought would ensure box office gold, except of course it didn't. But those US critics, who really appear to be the ones responsible for the poor public reception, have let far worse things pass through unharmed in such a scathing way. If it had been a success, surely the mistakes would have been addressed for the sequel?

I don't think you can really blame the critics for The Lone Ranger bombing, blame the god awful movie, sometimes the public do get it right (as with John Carter). If only Pirates of the Caribbean had bombed, then we'd have been spared all those sequels. It's fine liking terrible films, I like quite a few of them.
