Thanks to Sean (Goblin Score) mentioning this CD in the recent Bride thread, I sought out a copy on ebay (£8.50!! - a steal) and have been listening to it over the past few days.
What a fantastic collection it is!
I have a lot of Jarre scores on LP but have never upgraded many of them to CD (apart from my faves like Mad Max 3, Jesus of Nazareth, Moon Over Parador, Enemy Mine, Witness).
There's some amazing new stuff on here that I'm gonna love getting to know and hearing stuff like Shogun, Tai-Pan and The Bride again in spectacular suites is sweet smile
Tea & Jealousy from Shogun! Wow. It's like a crazy unheard track from Goldsmith's Challenge score.
Loving this! Thanks Sean smile

Yes, this is a lovely CD from James and Tadlow. There are many great suites from scores which I wish were available on CD including Shogun and Jesus. I believe Intrada may release the complete 'Shogun' in the near future with a possibility of 'The Bride' coming from Varese.

I am wishing and hoping James will deliver one more Jarre score re 'Jesus' or maybe 'Black Marble'.

Someone say Jarre? Like Pavlov's dog, I am!

Me too Big X, this is my favorite composer & I'll take anything with much gratitude.
Black Marble may be a long shot, it's so obscure, a bit short, and the above set has the best part from that atrocious film.
Jesus of Nazareth, more likely - the current 'expanded' (ha!) Legend CD is an insult. Listen to those tracks on the Universal 4cd set - it's a revelation how much better they sound, I hear instruments there you don't on the obvious cassette that's been used for years to represent this score.
This is the one composer where I wish comedy WOULD sell more cds - two jump to mind that would be great listens apart from the film - Young Doctors in Love & Chances Are.

Still a lot to mine here, but I am grateful he's gotten a lot of attention on CD over the years. The recent 'Murder of Mary Phagan' from Music Box is excellent too, low key synth/orchestral piece worth hearing.

I'll end my tirade in that I went YouTube hunting for some of the films I know of, but haven't seen, and found a few, all yet to watch save for one:
Enola Gay
For those I loved
Samson & Delilah (awful film but very nice score we'll never hear on cd! This has harsh epic- biblical scoring with emotional cello writing, an excellent finale piece - James F, what say you?? smile
Don't cry it's only Thunder
Coming out of the Ice

Happy hunting, cheers! !
Sean

I am also a great admirer of the music of Maurice Jarre and I have all the CDs released in my collection, I really like so much of the music of Notre Dame de Paris, I have the complete ballet on DVD. In this collection there are very interesting themes from the composer, the sensational recordings of "Mourir In Madrid", "Behold A Pale Horse", "The Collector" which includes the unreleased final theme, The Palanquin Of Tears ", & " The Black Marble". My only disappointment is with the recording of "The Message" which really in my opinion unfortunately resulted so far from the original.
From the still unreleased scores of the composer which is so many, 3 are in my first line of the most anticipated: "The Fixer", "Two Solitudes" that has the beautiful theme included on UMF box and "The Palanquin Of Tears". For expansion I wait for " Jesus Of Nazareth "and" Shogun", both need to be re-released in complete form and remastered, hope it happens in a near future.
I never tire me to thank Tadlow & Mr.Fitzpatrick and Intrada to bring all great Jarre's music to us.
