I haven't seen any mention of this here - I just found a CD of Frans Bak's score for Forbrydelsen, much of which was also used in the US version of The Killing, up for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk. Released on Guy Fawkes' Day (November 5th). Some great music in there, it would be splendid if there were a US version including the theme for The Killing by We Fell To Earth...
The Danish TV series has been shown in Norway as well, but I haven't seen it, nor heard its score.
However, Frans Bak is a good composer. He also did the score for the popular Norwegian series LILLYHAMMER, starring Little Steven from the E-Street Band (and SOPRANOS).
Great news! I was thinking about going after it, because we've done very well with Wallander, but I'm glad someone got it and is doing it. As they say around these here parts: Ordered.
I like the music from Forbrydelsen, too, very much and already have the CD. It´s an interesting contrast to Newman´s Skyfall. While both scores don´t rely too much on melody, Forbrydelsen creates an eerie, thrilling atmosphere and supports the series extremly well, Skyfall is boring even on first listening to the samples and does not create any atmosphere at all - neither Bond-feeling nor anything else...
His score for this show (both Danish and American version) is so amazing! I can't get enough of the nice (and very sad theme) he created for Sarah. Specially the Choral Theme from when they find Rosie. Such a hunting scene/score!
I bought this disc in a HMV sale a year or two ago for a quid or two and it does have some lovely sad/melancholic cues on it. I'll dig it out and give it another spin.
Just found the disc in my misc section and it still has the HMV £1 sale sticker on the front! So it was a bargain! Gonna spin it in work tomorrow, thanks to this thread.
