I do really love these two Chris Young scores and have the original CD releases from way back in the late 80's. However, maybe I should invest due to the remastered sound? I would need to keep the GNP Crescendo version of HELLBOUND, I guess, since it has those extra tracks from Young's HIGHPOINT score.
BUYSOUNDTRAX Records presents HELLRAISER/HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II, featuring music composed by Christopher Young. Both scores have been released previously on compact disc but those releases are long out of print and difficult to find. HELLRAISER/HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II are presented here on 2 CDs with liner notes written by author Randall Larson and music for both films newly remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland. HELLRAISER/HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II is a limited edition release of 2000 units.

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Hellraiser/ Hellbound: Hellraiser II
i was wondering how much the sound is different from original releases, and if the remastered is from original master tapes or not (just gain and reverb)
In the case of HELLRAISER, the original CD Release has a rather "BRITTLE Quality", James Nelson warmed it up a bit and helped the low end of it to come out. I'm very happy with it.
In the Case of HELLBOUND-HELLRAISER that CD always sounded rather good since it the score was remixed from the multi-tracks for the original GNP release by Christopher Young at WESTLAKE STUDIOS in Los Angeles at the time of the film's release.
All that needed was a bit of "Spit and Polish" by James Nelson at DIGITAL OUTLAND.

If you pick up this reissue, I hope you enjoy it.

Hello Mr. Thaxton
It is great the Christopher Young's HELLRAISER and HELLBOUND have been re-issued.
Do you think that Randy Miller's HELLRAISER III or Daniel Licht's HELLRAISER IV will be re-issued?
I got this via DarkDel two weeks ago. Hellraiser 2 does sound a bit better but the real improvement is on the original album. Practically night and day; much "brighter" sound without killing the details in playing. Good stuff.

Thanks LeHah for the information. Ordering a little later today. Gathering my list now.

Good to hear that. I ordered it from SAE, and sold off the original releases. Just waiting for a shipping notice now.
Sound quality is improved on both scores, especially the first.
Only hiccup (hey, it's BSX) is a forced 1-second pause between "Dead Or Living" (track 7) and "Leviathan" (track 8) on Hellbound which causes the last note fade-off to stop/start :-(

Yes, I noticed that too. Like what you get without gapless playback in iTunes.

Received this a couple of days ago but haven't gotten around to listening to it yet but it's a shame that there is a gap between those two tracks. Still it's easily fixed with a quick edit to remove the silence - at least it is if you have it stored on a hard drive.

I picked this up. Sounds great. If you are a fan of Young pick this up.

Received it last week and really appreciating the sound improvement in Hellraiser.
With respect to Hellbound, yes the pause is there. But is not distracting, in fact I could only detect it after reading about it here and after listening to the end of this track at a very high volume on headphones. At "normal" volume I could not detect it.
I finally decided to pick this set up. Luckily, Intrada had a copy for only 19.99. Even though I own the previous releases, I was swayed to get this set due to James Nelson's work which I have always appreciated. His remastering jobs have always been amazing to my ears! It will be nice to enjoy these scores with better sound.
Buuuuut, I am wondering. Is there a possibility to release Hellraiser with extra music?
