It's that time again: studios are starting to put up promotional sites with full scores in hopes of landing Oscar noms. As always, they are a great way to get a good solid listen on a score before buying. Scores that differ greatly from their commercial albums (or have no current album release) are in bold.
Thanks a TON for listing these and helping us hear some great tunes. Been wanting to hear FLIGHT for a while as it just came out today and I'm a huge Silvestri fan.
Please note that on the Flight score page, there is in fact a 14th cue after "Because I'm an Alcoholic". It's called "I need your help" (2:30). Let roll the score and it shows up. Beautiful last cue by the way!
I'm going to keep an eye out for other FYC stuff, but it looks like a lot of studios are going the cheap route this year and just posting screening lists. Guess all that money they gave to politicians has broken the bank
But hey, at least Flight and Rise of the Guardians Complete are out there for the fans!
I found Jeremy Sams' score for HYDE PARK ON HUDSON just as enchanting as I thought it would be. It perfectly captures the era while also evoking Sams trademark style which still, to my ears, reminds me of Richard Rodney Bennett.
Definitely check out the last track, "I'll Have Another."
Hopefully someone will issue a soundtrack CD of this lovely score.
I've gone over the new additions, and it looks like they're all complete scores aside from ParaNorman, which is just the album, and possibly Moonrise Kingdom, which had 17:00 of score on the commercial disc and 19:00 the site.
Incidentally, ParaNorman has an error: the first track was replaced by the third. No zombie attack in the 80s for us, it seems!
Moonrise Kingdom is complete, except that there's few changes on the mix in a couple of cues. The male choir in Leaving Chapel has a lower mix than in the film, the trumpet solo in Ward Saves Pierce is missing. The score sheets of Journey Starts has a alternate version without choir.
Finally! I've been checking that damn site every day to see when they'd get their act together. Looks like they're all just the albums, unfortunately, save TDKR which is oddly truncated.
There is (predictably) very little music in the movie. I honestly don't remember hearing even this much. This site may be missing a few very short transitional cues that segue into songs, but this is the bulk of the score in the film.
TWC finally ponied up, and it looks like "The Master" is complete. Good news for our Jonny Greenwood/Radiohead fans.
I think that leaves Sony/TriStar as the last major from last year who has yet to post anything. Too bad, as they might have a complete Skyfall up their sleeve.
