I thought there already was a discussion about this upcoming movie and the score, but couldn't find it right now... so here is a new one... The first trailer was just released and announce new release date of the movie for summer 2013. With so many projects already on Mr. Beltrami's schedule hopefully he won't have to leave some of them for schedule reasons. There is already 7 projects on his schedule for the next year - all of those should be most likely released in first 7-8 months of 2013 (release dates for Mad Max 4 and Snow Piercer still have to be announced).
- Warm Bodies (score already completed) - Snow Piercer (last update I had, they have just been working on it) - A Good Day to Die Hard - Carrie - The Wolverine - Mad Max 4 - World War Z
Anyway, World War Z looks like it lifted scenes from a lot of other movies and Pitt looks bored.
Trailer looks...meh...and did my eyes deceive me or was that William Devane for a split second?
Given its apparent deviation from the source material and the clashes between Pitt and director Marc Forster, I'm not surprised that the end product seems underwhelming.
The Weinstein Company has picked up Snowpiercer and will open this summer.

I don´t think that you can tell whether he looks bored.
But apart from that kind of interpretation I´m looking forward to Beltrami being in demand.
The trailer to "World War Z" looked very energetic to me - although I´m wondering why no zombie was on the screen long enough, only hordes of insanely fast moving masses, as if they were afraid to tell people that this is a film about a zombie apocalypse.
Has anyone heard anything about the upcoming score release? The movie is less than 2 months away, but nothing seems to have been announced so far...
Probably because the score is not finalized yet - due to the massive reshoots. I bet they are still editing this, and everyone chimes in with their opinion.
Hope not. The score was actually recorded in mid April. on the other hand, there already is the album announced for Wolverine, which isn't even recorded yet

well, hardly considering that from the 5 most recent or upcoming albums (Trouble with the Curve, The Sessions, Warm Bodies, A Good Day to Die Hard, Wolverine), only one was on Varese and it's been a few months since that one was released, while others are getting released by Lakeshore, Sony or Red River Entertainment.
speaking of Beltrami, just the other day I re-visited The Minus Man soundtrack for the first time in ages.
While the songs on the CD are ugly and distracting, the score itself is great, with one of Beltrami's most introspective and personal themes, scored for a small chamber ensemble with glass harmonica. The total antithesis of what he does now, generally.
I know that Beltrami does not try and stuff his CDs with as much material as possible; rather, he tries to include the most interesting material that creates an agreeable listening experience.
