I bought my copy of FSM's Ben-Hur score this summer and there's something about it that has always bugged me. The inserts (front and back) are, I'm not sure how to put this in English as it's not my first language, wavey/bubbley. They look water damaged, as if the ink didn't dry properly or something.

If this made any sense at all, and if you have a copy of this marvelous set, do you have the same issue with your inserts? I'd like to know if it's a common problem before I shell out over 70 bucks for a new set, as I'm picky with these sort of things.

My copy was not like this. I'd recommend e-mailing FSM prior to spending another $70 for fresh artwork though - it's possible they'd be able to help!

I ordered it in June at Screen Archives though, do you really think they'd be willing to send new inserts with my next order six months later? Seems a bit late.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.

If the inserts are damaged, SAE will help you. They are always great about replacing damaged items. Contact them now!

Thanks fellas, I've sent an email to SAE asking if it would be possible to get replacements with my next order. Crossing my fingers and will let you know when I get a responce...

Yes, 80cionado, I know what you are talking about. I didnt have a problem with BEN-HUR but on some of the older FSM titles. It was one of the deals where you ordered 5 titles and got one free.
It appeared to me that either the titles were stored in an area with higher moisture content or humidity, or that a lower grade of paper had been used in the booklet production that allowed for the absorbtion of air and moisture into the paper. The inserts front and back were bubbly and 'wrinkled' .
I did inform SAE at the time but didnt ask for replacments as I assumed they all would have been stored in the same area and therefore would have the same problem.
I just suggested that if the FSM titles were stored in a high humidity area, (like a basement or an uninsulated concrete area), that they be moved or a dehumidifier installed to protect their stock. I said in the email that it was not necessary to reply to me as I was merely bringing a possible problem to their attention.
And the moisture damage may have occured before SAE even began warehousing the FSM titles, although the problem with your BEN-HUR inserts would seem to refute that.

This is not a criticism in any way of SAE or FSM. They have always responded immediately to any problem and resolved the issue to this customer's satisfaction. I have nothing but praise for their customer service and their service in general.

But sometimes if you have a warehouse, you have a concrete floor, moisture comes through the floor, things are sitting on the floor...

I know what you're talking about. They'll look after you.

Amazing, less than 10 minutes after my email was sent I got a reply from Ed saying I would get new inserts with my next order. God I love SAE. Have an order I'm waiting for from them, after I've received it I'll order The Last Hard Men and ask for the replacement inserts under notes and have this thing over and done with.

Thanks to those who replied in this thread. I'm almost at peace now.

Good news. SAE are - in my experience anyway - always excellent with customer service.

I must be the unluckiest son of a bitch on this planet. Received the inserts in the mail today, only they also sent along the booklet and put it in between the inserts, which left a mark on both inserts since they were squeezed together. These are also wrinkled, either the booklet/post office doing or they were like that before being sent to me.

Received another replacement set, this time sent in the original box. Same problem with the inserts. I must have explained it wrong or something in my initial post. Is it even possible that this could happen at three separate occassions? They all must be in this condition, surely?

Might help if you posted a picture of them so we can see this damage.

Ive had 3 issues with FSM stuff and each time they responded quickly and sent a replacement. They are very good about it. My Superman Blue Box hard cover book came apart at the seams a couple of days after I received it, and FSM sent me a replacement book. I got a scratched disc in the Star Trek Ron Jones set and Goldsmith's Logan's Run and FSM graciously sent me replacement discs. smile

I tried taking some pictures with my camera but it's almost impossible to see the damage on the photos.

Well anyway, thanks for your input guys.

Good for you. I've had such a case recently with Varese (with back insert for MAN ON FIRE. which has been a little damaged during shipping), but unfortunately they couldn't help.

On the other hand, I've had problems with 2-3 La-La CDs and their customer's service is really top-notch! smile

A little bump as I finally managed to get some OK pictures by removing the back insert from the case and turning off the flash on my camera. Keep in mind they don't show all the damageas the light didn't reflect on it everything:

Surely they're not supposed to look like this?

Are the inserts a tad bit too big for the case?

No, I thought of that as well at first, but that didn't seem to be the issue when I checked.
