While it's been known for quite a while that Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) signed on to be the composer for May 2013's PS3-exclusive video game The Last of Us, it was only announced recently that all preorders of the game will include the digital download of the upcoming musical score. Apparently this preorder bonus is available everywhere, as part of the "Sights & Sounds Pack," whereas Gamestop preorders will also include the "Survival Pack," which doesn't appear to contain any music-related material.
The following is Santaolalla's theme for the game; included below that are reference links and background info on the game itself. Sounds interesting!
I ended up cancelling my preorder for the game - don't have as much time these days. But the CD soundtrack comes out next Tuesday and is shipping imminently!

Have only played just over an hour of this game and I've got to say it's going to take some doing to knock this serious game of the year contender out of the running.
I've listened to the all score and it's very recommend. i didn't really cared for his previous effort but this soundtrack is amazingly atmospheric and lyrical. it works perfect with the game.
Santaolalla plays his Charango (small guitar) and there are more exotic instruments that creates unusual sound-scape and minimalistic low key melodies. there are percussion, cellos, guitars.
the main theme is really hunting! this score is perfect to the game, but will really be appreciate more in the context of the game, so to really enjoy it, one must play the game.
it's quite mundane. So understated that I sometimes wondered if I accidentally muted my speakers. There are some lovely moments though but too far in between
There are several distinct musical themes in this work. They work to convey the games emotional characters, in a humble fashion. I find the music is never intrusive, my favourite game music to date.
