I think I will go see this film, it could be a hoot!
I can't stand Ray Winstone (Oy YOU!, It's me, a big hard Cockney, use Bet365 or else, I'll send the boyz round to sort you aaarrrrttttttt!!!) but it sounds bonkers enough to be fun.

I'm surprised there haven't been more complaints in the US from hardcore Bible freaks over the additions to the perfect work (e.g. Emma Watson's character).

If I get the soundtrack do I file it under 'fantasy'?

Try 'myth'. As long as you get the full import of what myth is.

I haven't seen it, but I'm intrigued by the idea. If the film can get to the underlying religious, psychic, and psychological roots by using a mythological technique, then it could be an eye-opener for audiences who've neveer been exposed to what previous generations have taken for granted. The whole Noah story, the waters of chaos, the rebirth etc., plus the little details often expunged in Sunday School, like Noah's naked binge session, might bring the thing out of never-never land and kiddies' story-books, into something real at last.

Mind you, the idea of 'Methuselah with a fiery sword' mentioned above looks like overkill! There are also many older myths re Noah, plus all that Mesopotamian stuff that could pull up a surprising result. And it might communicate to a youth audience.

Then again, it might be a load of old tosh...

Well, waddaya know!
I don't know if I was just in a really good mood, but I thoroughly enjoyed Noah last night.
The film is a hoot!
It’s like a crazy retro-sci-fi mix of Lord of the Rings and Transformers via Ken Russell (think Altered States), with Biblical stuff thrown in. I actually enjoyed it more than most films I’ve seen this past 12 months. I was certainly never bored and even managed to put up with Ray 'one role' Winston and that wooden, posh girl from Harry Potter.
Bonkers…but great fun.
Score ain’t bad either, works great in the film tho I wouldn’t want to hear too much of it on it’s own.

All those bits are in the film (he does an Ollie Reed-like naked binge on the beach drinking dirty/salty/muddy water) and it's also the latter...a bonzo load of tosh...but damned enjoyable.

Any more thoughts on this score from those who have seen the film and/or heard the soundtrack album?

Do you really want to hear my opinion?

Edit: Listened up to Poacher Fight. Just more generic wall of sound that could be in any of a thousand horror films. The music evokes nothing.

"Make Thee An Ark" is the best cue Clint has ever written.

I've been spinning this one repeatedly since I acquired it last week. Addictive score with several key tracks that must be played a minimum of 3 times before moving on to the next track. EXCELLENT score!

Agreed. Far superior to the other 'Biblical' score of the year, EXODUS (although that did have a couple of highlights too).
