Entries with Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan have, in some way, made reference to Bond's deceased wife, who was introduced in George Lazenby's movie. Plus, Moore's Bond started with Bernard Lee as M before getting Robert Brown, who was also M for Dalton and Brosnan. I've always viewed the Bond films (from Dr. No to Die Another Die) as being on a floating timeline, much like most comic books. Um, Brown's last performance as M was in Licence To Kill. We won't know anything until Days of Futures Past is out, but I don't see how it's ignoring First Class. It's a sequel with the same cast, although it looks like they will be using it to essentially merge the new films' continuities with the first three. (Which doesn't really excite me, since I didn't care for those movies.) I've been wanting to make a thread in the style of this one strictly about the ALIEN franchise. There's a lot to make sense of there, especially when you include not only the four movies but also the two AvP movies and PROMETHEUS. And then other films which reference the same universe -- like BLADE RUNNER, PREDATOR films and SOLDIER. Where should one stop? I deliberately didn't mention James Bond because I feel that that's a special case, for the most part a series of standalone, unconnected adventures in a franchise that have some characters in common and even some recurring characters but little by way of a strong thread of continuity. I'm not sure I agree. Until the Casino Royale reboot the only real inconsistency in the actual timeline that I can think of was Blofeld's lack of recognition of Bond in OHMSS, having been up close and personal in YOLT. And having recently watched YOLT, I'd forgotten that Blofeld immediately recognises Bond when the latter is unmasked as a bogus astronaut - making him even less likely to fail to recognise him when he turns up at Piz Gloria in glasses and a kilt. On the other hand, who gives a toss?    Posted:   Jan 28, 2014 - 10:03 PM     By:   Mr Greg   (Member) 8mm 2, which I just had the misfortune of watching, has no connection whatsoever to the previous film (I gather from Wikipedia that it was shot under the title "The Velvet Side of Hell" the re-titled when distribution rights were secured)...but why even connect it to the previous film??
