Hi all,
Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but there's a new Star Trek game coming out set between Trek '09 and Into Darkness that will apparently feature a new orchestral score by Michael Giacchino, per this article: http://news.yahoo.com/preview--new-‘star-trek’-game-serves-as-official-bridge-between-films-035914361.html.

Relevant quote here: "They even brought in Academy Award winning composer, and frequent Abrams collaborator, Michael Giacchino and his 100-piece orchestra to create an original score for the game."

Chris.

Awesome. This must be a first (the film's composer writing a complete original connected game score) and I'm very glad to see Giacchino return to his game score roots. Really excited to see what he can come up for for Trek music when he doesn't have to "hit" things and can let his music develop more organically...

Will this be Varese Sarabande's first video game score release?

Excellent! I hope this is for real, and not a misunderstanding of Giacchino's film score being used for the game -- and I hope he has the opportunity to go all out and have it work with the film scores.

Yeah, I'd be doubting this a lot more if Giacchino didn't have so many game scores under his belt! (a number of which were after his career took off for other mediums...)

Varese released at least one game score by Duane Decker: MechWarrior 4

Didn't David Arnold compose a James Bond game score?

I think he did the Wii version of GoldenEye? Has a score album ever been released for that?

For Goldeneye, David Arnold just wrote the themes, and then the score using those themes was written by Kevin Kiner

I look forward to hearing Giacchino's bludgeoning STAR TREK theme repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again in video game form this time.

Giacchino's done this before for Lost: Via Domus.

Or he could pull a Jaws 2.
