I am by no means whatsoever a Brownie. I do not like MLP:FiM.
Now, having said that, Hasbro should release this. Strike while the iron is hot, is the phrase. There will never be a better time to release a song/score CD for the show than now, while the fan-craze is full-throttle. NOW is when it will sell the most units.
Worried it might not be profittable? Welcoem to same risk LLLR, Intrada, FSM, Music Box, Perserverance, and other record lables run each and every single time they release something that isn't a holy grail, Hasbro. Come on.
They got to pay essentially storage fees; air conditioning the vault, powering the vault, making additional sotrage room for newer material, employees to run the vault, etc., etc., etc. Just sitting there costs them money, so why not make a little something on it.
Friendship with your fanbase can be magic.

I wouldn't mind seeing this released, preferably through LLL (it wouldn't be the first cartoon they've done). No idea what the chances of it really are, although I'd suspect Hasbro would be better off waiting 'til the series has run its course and releasing the songs and selected BG music from all seasons, rather than releasing something now with only Seasons 1-3, which may or may not be followed up later.
One mark against the likelihood of this is the fact that the MLP:FiM fandom is even more prone to piracy than usual, and it's been my impression that a great deal of it is in the "what's the point of physical media" camp, and would never pay a premium to own something... even something they loved... on a disc.

Not necessarily true. Most of the DVDs of the show released thus far have been cheaply-produced 5-random-episode singles intended for kids, which isn't what the adult fans want; they want complete season sets on Blu-Ray/DVD. When the pre-order link for the season 1 DVD set launched on Amazon, it hit #3 on the Best-Selling DVD charts for that weekend, beating out The Hunger Games and The Walking Dead Season 2 in sales.
Most of the piracy in the fandom is a result of the show not being officially released internationally. In the US, you can watch/buy the show through The Hub, iTunes, Netflix. If you live anywhere else - even in Canada, where the show is produced - you're primarily stuck with YouTube as your only viewing option (though I'm not sure if even YouTube is viable now as ContentID has shut down most of the older episodes). iTunes has also been prone to posting new episode after new episode riddled with severe audio glitches - the people who take those iTunes encodes, strip them of their DRM and dump them for free also fix the audio problems by patching them with their ripped TV counterparts, and also color-correct the picture so the video appears more vibrant and colorful (the colors in the raw, officially-released video are more dry and washed out). It's more justifiable in most of the fandom's opinion to download the show when a) they have no means to buy it outside of the States, and b) the pirated versions end up being in better quality than the versions iTunes provides!
As Gabe Newell (himself a brony) once said, "Piracy is a service problem."

Lakeshore Records released the Transformers Prime album, not LLL.

Yeah, oftentimes piracy is due to inadequate or inferior service on the part of the providers (since iTunes has no real competition so far as this show goes, they have no incentive to do a good job). Not to mention the fact that nobody outside the US, Canada, or Australia have a recourse if they want to purchase the show on DVD (an inferior format to begin with; it should've been Blu-Ray); and only in the US is it available digitally.
But the recently-released documentary about the Brony fandom showed up pirated very quickly after its initial release to donators who helped fund the production. And that download was released in high-quality 1080p, completely DRM free. All the right decisions, IMO, and yet it was still pirated almost instantaneously. The purchase price was very reasonable, too.
I do hope an album is eventually released, though.

iTunes has been rectifying the audio glitch issues whenever they're reported to them. I believe the problem there lies moreso on the DHX employee who didn't do his quality control checking before submitting them to iTunes, especially during season 3. And since iTunes can't give a damn to verify the content they receive, everyone assumes iTunes is to blame.
I consider the documentary a different entity from the show. From what I've seen, most bronies don't appear to like the documentary for a myriad of reasons (even some of the Kickstarter backers don't like how it turned out), and thus see no reason to pay $13 for the digital download (although it *is* coming out on iTunes/Netflix/Amazon later at a lower price). Most of the pirates (again, from what I've seen) of the documentary were people from 4Chan's /mlp/ board who only cared to see it because "lel, a spaghetti-fest of autistic neckbearded manchildren".
And even after the documentary piracy drama within the fandom happened, John De Lancie and Scrnland (the film's distributor) say the film has been sold 4,000 times, with 10,000 legal downloads (Scrnland allows downloading the same file multiple times).
