La-La Land will be releasing this CD soundtrack on 3/12 (to coincide with the game's release the same day). Tyler Bates is the primary composer, whose last video game soundtrack I believe was 2008's Rise of the Argonauts. I wonder if the God of War: Ascension score will share some of its traits, and/or be similar to the previous God of War soundtracks?

Who else is planning to get this one?

Not I, unless the reviews are surprisingly good. Haven't cared for the previous GoW scores nor most of Bates' work. I am curious to see what direction he takes with the music, though. Here's hoping for a pleasant surprise.

I get the soundtrack included in the version of the game I'm buying, so I'll find out about it that way.

I don't know about you, but I honestly think that sounds kind of neat. It definitely has a different vibe than Gerard Marino's versions.

I'm probably going to order La-La Land's release when it comes, mostly because I'm a fan of the GoW series, but also because I'm hoping Bates will deliver big-time. Still haven't decided whether I should buy the Collector's Edition of the game first, though.

/Viktor.

EDIT: Can't seem to get the embedding to work...

Sorry, forgot to say thank you, sir! The remake of the theme sequence definitely sounds different, I'd daresay better than the original. Very epic! Looking forward to the LLL release. I'll probably get the game eventually, but not the collector's edition, so I'm glad the score's getting proper treatment.

I am late to the "God Of War" video game series, so I have just recently bought the games and started with "Ascension". It is technically a prequel so the first story in the game series. I must say I have never heard anything Tyler Bates had composed previously that I even remotely enjoyed. That changed with the "Ascension" video game score. I really like it ! Nothing ground breaking of course but it just works in the game and as a stand alone listen. Every once in a while a balls to the wall score like "Ascension" and Zimmer's "King Arthur" just grabs me. I have also listened to the "Gods Of War III" score and think "Ascension" is just a better effort. I just ordered myself a copy of the La La Land CD. Looking forward to a better quality listening experience. I am just surprised how much I like this.

With this being only $5 at La La Land right now - gotta give this a bump. Will be ordering shortly!

I agree with all of that.

God Of War: Ascension is the only Tyler Bates score that I own, I've checked out some of his other works previously but none of them were particularly appealing apart from this one. Similarly, LLL's recent Uncharted 4 seems to be the only Henry Jackman score that I like.

Here's to any future video game soundtrack CDs that LLL may choose to release, as I've discovered plenty of musical gems that I probably wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Another bargain at $5.00 from La-La Land.

If you have some extra shekels . . .
