Here is a thought, let's keep the discussion about what we can hear within the range of human hearing?

So much of what is posted here is so much BS.

At the end of the day, it just doesn't really MATTER if you can't hear it.

44.1/16 vs. anything else just seems to be a TECH and GEEK issue.

99.5 percent of those on the planet couldn't tell the difference.

That's the cold and hard truth.

HDTRACKS is offering to download tracks that sound as good as they don on a CD and making $$$ on it.

More power to them.

The anal audiophiles can argue from now until the cows come home about what's better sounding, there are some who think LPS are the best sounding format.

Go Figure!

If you regard everything written in this thread as BS why do you even read it? Doesn´t make sense to me.

You´re a producer, why don´t you struck a deal with HDTracks to have an additional distribution channel? You could easily squeeze a few bucks out of us anal audiophiles.

I'll tell you the truth.

I'd do so with a smile on my face....

:-)

Also, we have been in talks about offering BSX RECORDINGS on HD.

So far, everything we've talked to whose opinion we've talked to who knows what that talking about, said that delivery at 44.1/16 bit is just fine, up sampling our existing recordings won't make any real difference and is a waste of time.

Thats great to hear Mr. Thaxton. I would appreciate more lossless content for soundtrack downloads. Just please don't go "completely" digital. Many of your releases are limited edition collectors items and I think deserve to be presereved on a physical medium. Also please don't upsample or downsample anything! Customers of HDtracks are willing to pay a small premium for "native" Hi Resolutions despite the controvery.

IMO releasing it in 24/192 really would be a pointless excercise, it would be just like those Rolling Stones album on HDTracks... people went mad when those were released in HD. Which is completely stupid because they sound so bad that 16/44.1 will forever be enough for them.

Pretty much this. I get that people have nostalgic attachments to various classic rock artists but the bad sound on most of them is enough to put me off.

44.1/16 bit would be great smile

As soon as you can talk them into selling to the world or you sell via something like Bandcamp too I'll pick up releases like the piano BSG, Scrooge and a few others.

Wow.

Man, I would love a complete score for the whole series. Since when does Geffen own the rights?

Before everybody starts lobbing grenades in my direction answer this question honestly: If 24-Bit/192Khz was just high-tech over-kill of no significant use, then why were the 2 inch 30 ips. multi-track masters of STAR TREK TMP transferred by Bruce Botnick using this methodology? Is Bruce (and the great folks at La La Land Records) just "drinking the 24/192 Kool aid"?

That's so funny! I was planning on bring that up in my next response.

Take a look John Schuermann's filmography on IMDB, he talks like he has a foothold in the movie industry, but really...

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1056151/

The industry standard is what it is for a reason. It's not a conspiracy.

Hey, djintrepid, check this out:

Sorry - was going through some old posts to cut and paste some material I had previously written for an article I was writing, and found this old thread. Couldn't resist...

BTW, I did the full 5.1 surround mix for the film as well, which premiered at the TCL Chinese in Hollywood.

wink
