French label ARP Sélection has revealed that it is planning to bring to Blu-ray Gérard Pirès' classic action comedy Taxi (1998), starring Samy Naceri, Frédéric Diefenthal, Marion Cotillard, and Emma Wiklund. The preliminary release date set by the studio is April 8th.

Written and produced by Luc Besson (Léon: The Professional, Subway). Daniel is a speed-obsessed ex-pizza delivery boy, who drives a custom-built taxi which is so fast that it even evades the police radars. When he unwittingly gives a speedy lift to police officer Emelien Coutan, he is informed that he'll have to give the car up - unless he co-operates with the police, and acts as Emelien's personal driver. Daniel agrees to the deal, and ends up in high-speed pursuit of German thieves.

Update

Special Features:
40-page Collector's Booklet
Collectable Photographs
Making of Featurette
Gallery of Stills

Note: Preliminary information submitted by the distributor indicates availability of optional English subtitles.

This was actually a lot of fun. Not sure I'd upgrade to bluray for it, though.

TG,
Have you seen any of the sequels?

I recall that we saw numbers 2 and 3 but not T4xi. I think the law of diminishing returns applied, as it often does with sequels. Are you a fan?

No, I've been interested in seeing them, along with the French version of Just Visiting.
