That "Rain In The Third House" track reminds me somewhat of the "People In The News" track from Miracle Mile with the driving rhythm and the synth choir.
I have searched and searched for my topic on Stone's SUNDOWN and can't find . If I had found it, I would have brought it back up as a reminder to buy this score.
This is an AMAZING score. Someone mentioned it about 8 years ago and that it could be bought for a few dollars at Amazon, so "sound unheard" I bought it. WOW! It was a great CD. Then, all of a sudden, it became rare and VERY costly. BSX is now offering it at a great price.
It is rich with action music and amazing themes. It certainly pays homage to Elmer Bernstein's signature western rhythms first heard in The Magnificent Seven. It also has cuts echoing Morricone's western sounds, and it has Stone's own original voice. I play it often. I could barely stand watching the movie. This is a score that belonged behind an excellent western, and I think if it had underscored a better movie, all of you would have heard of it.
Great buy and great score!!
The CD cuts sound great and I'll get it, but you've scared me off of buying the DVD of the film. Likely that explains why the film never had a U.S. theatrical release.

Interesting. I'm intrigued by Sundown and will certainly check it out when it hits Spotify. The samples aren't bad but aren't making me really want it either.
Yep. Obviously that's a much bigger version that what you would see on a CD cover though Both are good in different ways.
I notice that Ford Thaxton produced the Heartbreakers TD album, so he had an established relationship with TD back then. A good sign for further reissues I hope (including Heartbreakers).

He didn't have anything to do with the original 1985 Heartbreakers soundtrack. He produced the 90s Silva reissue though.
Severin Dies and Fight At Dawn have not been fixed. Ford at Buysoundtrax told me on the phone that the way they sound on the Varese Sarabande release is the way they sound on the master tapes that where given to both Varese and Silva Screen. The CD has some warmth to it but if your expecting these two tracks to be fixed and sound great, they are not. They sound the same with some warmth to it.

I have just listened to Sundown and I couldn't agree more with this post. What a pleasant and refreshing surprise ! Really recommended.
nice releases! i've been wanting a copy of 'near dark' for quite some time. i'm surprised no one has mentioned TD's score to 'sorcerer'. it and 'miracle mile' are some of their best work, imo.
