I know it is unlikely, but I can hope!smile

Couldn't agree more that this would be a worthy project. I think the most likely scenario would be remasters of Rocky I, II and III in a single set. After Bill Conti, I have no interest.

I have DiCola's ROCKY IV, so I'm content. However, I agree that a set would be nice.

Conti scored all but IV.

As henry says, it seems very unlikely, but then, so did so many CDs that we now have in our collections. Given that "Rocky" is that rare soundtrack that actually sold, it seems that Capitol may have no interest in giving up any rights. And given that the film actually has less music than the soundtrack, it may not be something the labels see as hugely important.

But who knows?

Yes, I fear it may have the same curse as the Bond soundtracks ...

Of sufficient commercial interest that the 'big' label doesn't want to give it up.

These are some of the worst sounding CD's in my collection. They really need a remaster if possible.

I’ve posted this before but it boggles my mind that with the existence of 5 soundtrack CD’s and 2 compilation CD’s, that not one of them contains the actual film version of “Gonna Fly Now” from any of the films. This is probably one of the most recognizable and inspirational pieces of music of all time! Weird.

Now that we finally got a LETHAL WEAPON set, how about a ROCKY set? Why is it so hard, what's the !@#$%^& problem?

Finally seeing the Rocky movies for the first time.

It strikes me how similar the arc is to the Star Trek movies:

1 that stands alone, then a loose trilogy, then the black sheep of the series, then a bit of a wait before we get a magnificent send-off for the original characters, then a longer wait before getting Rocky: The Next Generation with a supporting role for the star of the previous generation.

Also, in both, #4 has the score that stands out from the rest of the series.

I look forward to the JJ Abrams continuity reboot

I've posted this on more threads than I care to admit but I'd jump all over a ROCKY box set. I was a teenager in the late 80's & my mom bought me a "Rocky soundtrack". I popped the CASETTE in & the music sounded nothing like the movies. Turns out, it wasn't even the official soundtrack! It was a rerecording of all the main Rocky music. So my quest began to get the actual score. I bought the soundtrack but then I learned it wasn't what was in the movie either! I own all the first 5 soundtracks & none of them contain the versions of "Gonna Fly Now" in the films. Argggggggg!!!

I'd like to have this while I'm young enough to run to it once!!

You will never get a Rocky Box Set. Too many companies involved. However expanded versions of each one ala Trek Film series may be possible. Hell, Rocky IV already came out

Releasing them individually, to me, is just as good!smile

If my gut feeling is anything to go by - and it's often let me down when playing roulette - then, yes, we will get a boxset. And it'll be made of gold and diamonds. It'll come with kittens, too! And I'll be the only person to own it.

I'd say somebody should start working on such a project... Hint, hint. wink

I'd be fine with expanded individual releases.
