First release of a full Garvarentz soundtrack that is not a LP transfer? Great!!! I hope for more 60s-70s full releases from French composers, and especially Garvarentz, in the future.
a full Garvarentz soundtrack... not a LP transfer?
hard to tell from the website if either of those are true for both scores:
"Both scores were previously released on LPs: we recreate the exact same programs, plus provide a little bonus for The Corrupt Ones. During the production of the CD, we came across an unlabelled tape that contained several cues not on the LP: the worthiest selections are included at the end as a bonus of previously unreleased music."
I love the score to THE CORRUPT ONES, and to get a few more cues - all the better. I just listened to the sound samples, and to my ears CORRUPT ONES is off tape, not vinyl. The stereo mix is much better than on the old UA release, and it sounds totally clean.
Although KILLER FORCE was released in the U.S. by American International Pictures, its soundtrack was released on Audio Fidelity Records. I wonder how Music Box was able to pair it with THE CORRUPT ONES, which was on United Artists Records.

Tracks such as "The Mortuary" and "Torture Room" feature the Ondes Martenot, which can only be heard in Music Box's sound sample from "Treasure Cave".
Anybody who dislikes the sound of the Ondes as it is performed by Cynthia Millar in '80s blockbusters by Elmer B. or Maurice J. should reconsider the instrument as it was played and sounded in the 1960s:
FACES IN THE DARK ('60) Mikis Theodorakis JUDEX ('63) Jarre THE CORRUPT ONES ('67) Garvarentz SECRET CEREMONY ('68) R. R. Bennett BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW ('70) Marc Wilkinson ...plus a number of others, I'm sure.
Also from this time period the Ondes could have been recorded in either France or the U.K. I wonder if the Music Box liner notes indicate the recording venue for THE CORRUPT ONES and the location where the master tapes were stored?
Garvarentz's career was in France, but I'm curious if the recording elements were done in England?
Fantastic release but i have a question. You write about the Garvarentz CD :
During the production of the CD, we came across an unlabelled tape that contained several cues not on the LP: the worthiest selections are included at the end as a bonus of previously unreleased music.
What do you mean by worthiest selections? Could you be a little bit more specific? Were the selections you eventually discarded sort of alternates or did you decide to drop some genuine material out?
Garvarentz's career was in France, but I'm curious if the recording elements were done in England?
I don't know about THE CORRUPT ONES, but KILLER FORCE (or DIAMOND MERCENARIES as I always knew it) was certainly recorded in England, at IBC Studios.
I have the Pye version of DIAMOND MERCENARIES, which I bought second-hand many years ago in Dean St Records in London. I'd been after it ever since I first saw the film. Obviously I've ordered this new CD.
The film itself was released on DVD in Australia last year (under the KILLER FORCE title) although it wasn't a particularly good print. It was quite entertaining although I don't really know now what I saw in it the first time round
Most of the score is on the album, incidentally. I think I noticed a minute or two in the film that might not have been on the album, but actually it's a relatively lightly scored film.
