Two weeks after Water Tower Records drops the Man Of Steel OST by Zimmer on June 11, Disney Records is dropping the Lone Ranger OST, also composed by Zimmer, on June 25. Here it is on Amazon

Wonder if this swill sound like RANGO?

(I made myself laugh, my finger slipped above and thought I heard that word before.)

Why does this thread have 20x less posts than the Man Of Steel OST thread?

Is it because it's just a one-disc, one-edition release?

Is it because the film isn't looked forward to as much?

Isn't there a lot of people here that look forward to every new Zimmer score?

Because we have nothing to discuss? Was there any original music in the trailer? Have there been any clips? Has Zimmer mentioned his approach to this film?

That said, yes, I suspect this movie is much less looked-forward-to in general than the Superman movie; in general the reactions I've seen to the Lone Ranger trailers have been less than favorable.

I haven't discussed it because nothing in the trailers has particularly gelled with me and some of the effects are dreadful. As to the music, well we don't really know anything about it and until I hear some samples I don't want to even try and guess what style he is going to take (esp with Man Of Steel taking an unusual direction)

Does anyone know what music plays in this trailer from about the 24 second mark to about 53 Second mark?

Looks like this is being released by Disney/Intrada much along the lines of OZ: THE GREAT & POWERFUL and THE AVENGERS.

How come surefire successful films like The Avengers and Oz get Intrada but movies that were always destined to perform poorly like John Carter and Frankenweenie get regular Disney releases?

I'm not complaining, just curious.

I'm curious too. It's not like Elfman and Zimmer are small names in the scoring industry. At least we know it'll be handled correctly by Intrada, even if it does have almost double the normal price tag.

Because Intrada knows a hit when they see it?

To show you how out of touch I am with the current film scene, I had no idea Zimmer was scoring this picture. Will be curious to hear his approach to the material, but didn't I recall reading that Jack White was originally handling the music for "The Lone Ranger"? If so, I wonder if the switch was made early, or ended up being a last minute decision.

Glad Intrada will be releasing another 'tentpole' score, though - here's hoping it sells like hotcakes (in the era when hotcakes sold like hotcakes) for them.

Doug's Corner from a few days ago

6/4/13

Since people are asking about dates and it is not a secret that we are releasing Hans Zimmer's major summer score for Disney's Lone Ranger as a co-brand with them, I will go ahead and post now the anticipated street date for our CD. We have it slated for release on July 23. Knowing the creds on this one (composer, director, producer, star and studio) we are anxious to hear it, too!

When Disney was going to release the physical CD themselves, the street date was June 25th!

The movie opens July 3rd

The score is being released digitally on July 2 according the Film Music Reporter. They've also posted a tracklist:

1. Never Take Off the Mask (1:08)
2. Absurdity (4:58)
3. Silver (4:00)
4. Ride (4:17)
5. You’ve Looked Better (3:09)
6. Red’s Theater of the Absurd – Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three (3:02)
7. The Railroad Waits for No One (3:09)
8. You’re Just a Man in a Mask (4:14)
9. For God and for Country (4:53)
10. Finale (9:51)
11. Home (6:55)

I wonder if Intrada's physical disc will have more music?

I am curious what Zimmer came up with, but I am not holding my breath. I am not a fanboy, but I am not a hater either. I can't think of another effort that he has worked on that was a western. The last score Zimmer composed that I find engaging is Sherlock Holmes. Maybe he can come up with something a little different like that for the Lone Ranger. Man Of Steel was forgettable IMHO. Unless something changes my mind, I plan on renting the film when it hits Blu ray. I AM hoping someone gives John Barry's Legend Of The Lone Ranger a legitimate CD release.

RANGO. Oddly, from the same star and director.

If THE LONE RANGER's score is even half as delightful as the track "Rango Suite", it's already one of the year's finest in my book.
