THe main issue I had with the effects was why did their weapons sometimes vaporize targets and other times cause them to explode?

My main issues are:
- the suits are so cumbersome that their inhabitants nearly can't move. If they can make vehicles that can cover billions of miles in a viable time period they ought to be able to come up with something better than a bunch of toilet roles topped of by a clam shell.
- The UFOs land and the military starts blasting away. Then again history proves this element to be the most realistic of the entire film
- the animation is too flickery. Instead of colourisation I would like to see the animation smoothed by computer.
- nothing can excuse for the ridiculous rear projection run on a treadmill sequences after the research facility gets attacked. Those sequences are so very much beyond laughable they're painful to watch.
