-----------
His words were:

"It's possible one of them could be Days of Wine and Roses by Henry Mancini .........."

Well, okay, but he was clearly having a little fun. Can you imagine if they turned out not to be those two? They've never lied. Okay, might not technically be a lie… but in the spirit of the statement, he's telling us those are the titles.

Maybe the sound clips will change my mind but, main titles aside, I've never liked FIRE BIRDS much. Too bland.

Still, a David Newman CD is a David Newman CD, so...yay.

P.S. I'd have also thought MALONE was his first action score.

I`m sure you`ll change your mind when you`ll hear the amazing action cue THE BIG BATTLE which is among the most furious orchestral tour de forces I`ve ever heard , the playful pizzicato cue FIRST FLIGHT, the tender electronic cues that feature the beautiful love theme, the memorable electronic cue PLAYFUL COPTER, the drum machine driven action cue JEEP DRIVE, the playful cue VACATION and many more cues that make FIREBIRDS an incredible musical experience.

"It's possible one of them could be Days of Wine and Roses by Henry Mancini and the other might be David Newman's Fire Birds. Two different scores...but you'd only know for sure if you showed up Monday."

Damn Roger and his cryptic clues! What can these hints mean????

So assuming Roger's not playing games with us it looks like the Doc Loch curse has been broken. I finally guessed one right. This almost makes up for losing out on that $6000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant.

If you read into "possible" as "it is" , well then you are right and this is true evidence that people only read into things to what they wamt it to be, not what it actually says...POSSIBLE (AS IT MIGHT BE AND IT MIGHT NOT BE)

Of course I know what "possible" means. But in this context, Roger is clearly having a little fun. There is absolutely no way he would anger fans on his own message board by listing two titles out of the blue that they are not releasing next week.

From "Doug's Corner":

A pair of fabulous new releases comes your way tomorrow, with artwork and audio samples going up this afternoon. One is arguably the most important never-before-released-in-any-incarnation soundtrack by this incredibly successful composer. With a career of popular albums, both from the actual soundtracks as well as re-recordings, for a variety of reasons this score never made it to the public in any form - even though the composer took home an Oscar for the song that graces the picture itself. Intrada is unusually proud to see this one cross the finish line after several decades have passed by. It appears complete, including the first actual soundtrack release of that magnificent title song. While our second new CD may not carry quite the same impressive credentials, it does carry an incredibly exciting action score, this one for a rousing high-tech action pic from the early nineties. We love working with this composer, too. Check out the brass and percussion with this one and hang on!

And the other is FIREBIRDS (aka WINGS OF THE APACHE) by David Newman.
I don't think any soundtrack collectors can begrudge his fans their occasional new release.
