As a tribute to the great posts by Recordman in which he shared so many wonderful and obscure soundtrack LP covers, we are starting a series of posts on an often overlooked aspect of film music collecting, sheet music.

The first post covered the sheet music of Jerry Goldsmith. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=95867&forumID=1&archive=0

Our second post in this series features the sheet music of composer JOHN BARRY.

We would appreciate any additions to sheet music by John Barry not included in this post.

Really great share of some marvelous Barry memorabilia - thank you Sir! Among my favorites: (for being even more deeply nostalgic artifacts from John's youthful successes - ACTION / LANCE FORTUNE / ARRIVEDERCI BABY / MADE YOU / BLACK STOCKINGS / CUTTY SARK / FARRAGO - love these for the antiquated 50s-style graphics and nice shots of John's face - beaming with enthusiasm and vitality). Next batch of favorites exemplify rare imagery/art from classic period Barry film/TV assignments: (AMOROUS PRAWN - wish this great image was bigger / GIRL WITH THE SUN IN HER HAIR - powerful portrait of John / MY LOVE HAS TWO FACES - exciting new advert design / NEVER LET GO / HIT AND MISS - great shot of TV set / KING RAT - new advert layout / A MATTER OF WHO - super rare art for obscure Barry project). Love them! Thanks again!

I'm most interested in The Cotton Club sheet, never imagined that was published. I can't seem to find it anywhere, it must be pretty rare. Have you any idea if Hammet was ever published? I love that theme and its piano rendition in "Hammet's Dream".

Me ... and many others, courtesy of the (old) John Barry Appreciation Society. Late 70s, I think, R. & R. produced a set of 7 cassette tapes with recordings spanning well-known to ultra-rare covering Mr. Barry's work from 1957 - 1977.

The Tony Bennett recording of Walkabout was one such recording ... nothing to get excited about, IMHO. But yes, a vocal (lyrics by ?) using this lovely melody.
