I wish they'd just left it with the cartoons (of which I have the DVDs) rather than try and make a movie. At least they've kept it animated rather than live action like with Yogi Bear

Looks like Flash animation characters with CGI backgrounds. Yuk.

I agree, and it is a shame because I love Top Cat.

Actually, amazing as it sounds, Yogi Bear is quite a fun movie. I watched it flying out to the 'states a couple of years ago and it isn't too bad at all.

For years, "Top Cat" was my favorite joke idea for a bad Hollywood movie based on a cartoon, except I imagined it as live-action, starring Robert De Niro as Officer Dribble, Robert Downey Jr providing the voice of a CG T.C., Bobcat Goldthwait was going to be Benny, Rick Moranis as Brain, Bill Murray as Fancy, and I forget who else. Oh well. Can't believe they are not using the original series title song in this animated feature.

My other candidate for a bad idea for a movie was a live-action special effects extravaganza based on Disneyland's 'The Enchanted Tiki Room' -- but that already went into development a few years ago.

It's becoming difficult to poke fun at the Hollywood franchise machine.

From what I understand this was made by and for the South American market where Top Cat is unaccountably popular.

It's fairly limited animation as it was made on the cheap and the studio are pushing out globally over a long period-I think it was in the UK last year-may even have been before that.

Of course, he ended up playing Boris and Natasha's fearless leader Fearless Leader. Remarkably, it's less embarrassing than some of his more recent roles.
