"The Muppet Show" and "The Muppet Movie" were very enjoyable. Then along the way they lost their charm. Recently the Muppet's guest starred on the Disney Channel show, "Good Luck Charlie". I really enjoyed that. Well, I wouldn't go crazy. That was fun, yes, but better than The Muppets? I can't agree there... I really annoys me that Disney hasn't finished releasing The Muppet Show on DVD (Seasons 4 & 5) or even begun The Muppets Tonight. It profoundly annoys me that many of the episodes in the existing season sets are missing segments (including ones that were present in the complete episodes that got released on the Time-Life individual DVD releases of a few years earlier). I believe many Muppets fans (including this one) have been reluctant to buy the season sets because of the inexplicable cuts, and I can't help but wonder whether Disney is dragging its feet on the sets because of poor sales, when they might've done better had all the episodes in the sets been complete.    Posted:   May 10, 2013 - 8:10 AM     By:   Solium   (Member) @Storyteller- I haven't seen "The Muppets" yet, but I just didn't get a positive vibe from the previews. @ Tarasis- If I remember correctly they show up in the dream sequence, then again at the very end. Unfortunate; it's incredibly full of love for the characters and their legacy, and particularly hearkens back to what a lot of Muppets fans consider the "classic" era from the mid-'70s to early '80s, when The Muppet Show was running and the first couple movies were made. There are actually Muppet characters in the movie who haven't been seen since those days, characters like Thog, Wayne and Wanda, and Uncle Deadly (who actually has a fairly substantial role here). Just the fact that the filmmakers actually remembered such characters ought to mean something, I think. If you didn't get a positive vibe from the previews, what about the reviews? It settled in at a Pixar-territory 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, for whatever that's worth.    Posted:   May 10, 2013 - 11:46 AM     By:   BobJ   (Member) OK, I'm sure to start a war on this one... but I hated the movie "The Muppets". It wasn't about the wonderful muppets, it was the "Jason Segel Show". This poster is the perfect representation of the movie- Segel holding the muppets back. The whole subplot about him and his girlfriend was so incredibly dull it made the movie intolerable. The first three muppet movies were about the muppets. Who the heck cares if Segel makes a commitment to his girlfriend or not. There were other issues, but this movie just isn't worth that much writing.
