No question to offend anyone, but there are some Varèse Sarabande CDs that WERE NOT produced by Robert Townson: BRAINSTROM Executive producers: John Yap, Tom Null & Chris Küchler. COCOON THE RETURN Executive Producers: Tom Null & Richard Kraft. FARWELL TO THE KING Executive Producer : Richard Kraft. (to only quote a few from my own collection). YES, Robert Townson produced over 1 000 albums - THANK YOU Sir - but NO he didn't produced EVERY soundtrack albums that the label has ever released. Oh and STUCK IN LOVE (Release Date: 06/11/13) will NOT BE PRODUCED by Mr Townson but by a new comer, Cary E. The Varese CD Club would not exist were it not for Robert Townson. . As much as I am totally on your side with this argument, Townson was in Canada doing his Masters of Film Music (albeit thru Varese) when the gang here came up with the Varese Club. Sure! We're just suffering from the usual topic drift here. The poster who said that Townson produces all Varèse albums was replying to an earlier poster who said that Townson being busy with concerts was a "lousy excuse" for the lack of Varèse Club albums, since "other people" at the company could do that work. I thought my post clearly stated that my Townson reference was to the "Varese CD Club" (the subject of the thread) and did not, therefore, refer to CDs issued BEFORE Townson joined Varese, or to soundtracks released in general (vice CD Club). My memory does not go so far back as to the initial club of the early 90s. The current iteration of the club, however, has been all Townson so far as I know, and that is what the originator of the thread was attacking.    Posted:   May 23, 2013 - 9:34 AM     By:   Ron Pulliam   (Member) No, the Varèse CD-club is NOT dead. There's an insightful interview with Robert Townson on Filmmuziek.com where he clearly says he intends to continue with the series but has been too busy with all the celebrations for their 35th anniversary as well as the concerts all over the world. It just won't be any time soon. Here's a crazy notion: How about celebrating the 35th anniversary by . . . oh, I don't know . . . actually releasing some CDs? Are you ignoring the fact that they have continued to release CDs every month for current movies? If that doesn't interest you, fine, but Varese has always been more about releasing soundtracks for current movies than an FSM-styled, only Golden & Silver Age score releases. Just because they haven't released whatever 70's/80's era score you want doesn't mean that they're just sitting around doing nothing. No disrespect intended, Tom, but the originator was not attacking the monthly releases of current titles (none of which excite many of us).
