Again, I found them while going through my old cassettes form the early 80s.

The first is labeled "The Man from Bitter Ridge", and that's a film from 1955 if I'm not mistaken but it sounds more like 60s /70s so which recording is this? The composers are (acc. to IMDB) Irving Gertz, William Lava and Henry Mancini! Was this really on some compilation?

The second is apparently "The Streets of Laredo", a theme / song which gives me goosebumps, and again, which version is this? It's the most beautiful and haunting I know.

Please, are there any old cowhands reading this, willing to give a stranger a hand?

Beat me to it, Dan!

The first one is the main title from Duel At Diablo by Neil Hefti

The 'Streets of Laredo' track is gorgeous.

The second may or may not be film-music.

It's a very famous song, 'The Streets of Laredo'.

'As I walked out on the streets of Laredo
As I walked out in Laredo one day
I spied a young cowboy, wrapped up in white linen,
Wrapped up in white linen as cold as the clay ...'

There must be many arrangements. Wasn't there a TV series of that name?

Whoops ... I didn't notice you'd already identified the song in your post!

I'm still looking, but here's an interesting item for free download: I'm hoping it's not illegal ...

Victor Young's complete score from 'Streets of Laredo', the 1949 movie, as score sketch manuscripts:

If it's not kosher, David can delete it, or tell me, but don't go ruining his weekend with complaints.

Well, thank you for your quick replies! Oops, yes, there must have been a mixup of track titles back then, DUEL AT DIABLO makes much more sense.

So the question is: Which compilation is the LAREDO track from? It isn't from any particular movie, is it?

Why do I keep thinking Tiomkin for the second cue. The first one is obviously DUEL AT DIABLO.

But the 'Streets of Laredo' track could be Tiomkin or it could be Victor Young.
