Thanks for the heads up buddy! I have to say I've gotten to know Robin and he's a good guy and puts out some great CDs for us all. I know I'll be at the signing as I'll be living out there by then. I hope many come out to meet the great line-up of composers. Richard Sherman if you've not met him is an absolute sweetheart. Such a kind soul.

If some of you haven't yet met Richard Sherman I HIGHLY advise you to go. Where else could you meet one of the true legends in music and especially Disney music. You will be swept away by his kindness. This is looking like one super duper composer extravaganza event!

Our friend Robin Esterhammer of Perseverance Records will be attending a signing event at Dark Delicacies of Burbank at 2pm on July 28th. The list of composers is certainly looking impressive and names are still being added.

I have to throw in my two cents on the Spartacus CD's. They are absolutely incredible. I was shocked to hear this was from a TV show as it sounds as if it should be attached to the latest billion dollar box office hit. Great job from Joseph. Hope many pick this up and find out what many of us know, that the music is so darn great.

When my friend Chris Hatton recommended I look into the music of John Massari, practically the only composer I wasn't familiar with at this signing, I immediately looked him up on IMDB. When I saw he was born in 1957 I continued to be intrigued by a guy from my generation. Then I read this mini-biography:
While Lady Gaga's Bad Romance music video represents his most recent work in creating original sound design, John Massari's career path began to germinate at age 6, after his family moved to Los Angeles, California from New York city.
In the summer of 1960, his first ever theatrical matinée movie experience was a double feature: Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) and The Time Machine (1960). The musical scores to both films made such a powerful impression upon him, that later that afternoon he sat down at the family piano and began to explore creating original music.
His early musical instrument training included piano, trumpet, and contra bass. In 1974 he studied musical composition with Victor Savant at Chapman College In 1976 he attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he studied composition and orchestration with Henri Lazarof, and David Raksin as well as private studies in orchestration and conducting with Albert Harris.
While at UCLA, Massari organized concert programs featuring original compositions and arrangements and was awarded the 1978 Frank Sinatra Music Award. From 1978 through 1983 he served as orchestrator for composers Jerry Fielding, David Rose, and Mark Snow. Massari has been a composer for feature films, television, and commercials since 1982. He pursued further studies in composition with Leonard Stein from 1990-91. In 1990 he composed "The War Prayer," a Narrative Oratorio for Orchestra and Chorus.
Massari is probably best known - and most admired - for creating the "Wonderful World of Disney" theme. Other TV music credits include his Cable Ace nominated score for _"Ray Bradbury Theatre, The" (1985)_." Among his feature film work are the scores for MGM's Cult Classic _Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988)_ and the comedy Breathing Hard (2001). In addition, he has worked extensively in DVD home entertainment, scoring original compositions for bonus material on films such as "Gone in 60 Seconds" and "Mission to Mars" as well as Disney classics "Old Yeller" and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". On the commercial side, his music has been heard in commercials for Nextel, Pontiac and IBM with Ear to Ear Audio Banks
An avid explorer of California's Mojave desert, John Massari made a significant precious metals discovery on April 25, 1995.
ANYONE who orchestrated for as totally diverse composers as Jerry Fielding, David Rose, and Mark Snow has really got my attention. Add to that Lady Gaga and you have a universe of musical diversity. I have the KILLER CLOWNS CD somewhere. Time for another listen and looking deeper into this guy.
