THURSDAY, JUNE 6

THE STOPS ALONG THE WAY---miniseries underway based on Rod Serling's unproduced last screenplay by JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

THE AVENGERS 2---Joss Whedon said about Robert Downey, Jr., "He is Iron Man. He is Iron Man in the way that Sean Connery was James Bond. I have no intention of making AVENGERS 2 without him, nor do I think I’ll be called upon to do that.
I don’t think it’s in my interest, Marvel’s interest, or his interest, and I think everything will be fine. But I know that this is Hollywood and you roll with things. You have to be ready for the unexpected."

UNDER THE DOME---new photo released of the 13-episode CBS series based on the Stephen King novel. Premiere is June 24.

THE BORGIAS---Showtime cancelled the series with the final episode airing on June 16. Creator Neil Jordan wanted to end the series with a tv movie, ”As a compromise, I proposed to finish the arc of all the characters with a two-hour movie. When they [Showtime] looked at what it could cost, it was just too expensive. Sadly, that’s what happened. I would have loved to bring all the characters to a conclusion. All of the actors were heartbroken we couldn’t continue, and so was I.” The tv movie involved the pope dying and no one wanting to hear his confession. Finally, someone is found to hear his confession, but he says to the pope, “I’m sorry, it’s too late, you’re already dead and burning in hell.” Jordan said, “I wanted a totally biblical ending, for the pope to burn in hell...This satisfies all moral feelings about the pope.”

THE LITTLE PRINCE--animated movie underway based on the classic children's book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Voices will be by Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benecio Del Toro, Rachel McAdams, Paul Giamatti and James Franco.

THE RULES OF INHERITANCE---Jennifer Lawrence has signed to be the star/producer of the movie based on the memoir by Claire Bidwell Smith.

RODHAM---Carey Mulligan is the top candidate to star in this movie set during the Watergate scandal in which Hillary Rodham Clinton must choose between her political ambitions and Bill Clinton.

CRIMSON PEAK---Mia Wasikowska is in talks to replace the departed Emma Stone in this haunted house movie from Guillermo del Toro which stars Charlie Hunnam, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jessica Chastain.

BLACK MASS---Tom Cruise is the top candidate to replace Johnny Depp in this movie about Boston mobster Whitey Bulger if Depp's salary dispute can't be resolved. Depp wants his minimum of $20 million.

THE GUNMAN---Javier Bardem will co-star with Sean Penn in this movie based on the novel about a hitman who is targeted by his mob bosses after he wants to retire.

SUITS---Michelle Fairley (GAME OF THRONES) will have a recurring role as a British oil developer.

LOVE & MERCY--Paul Giamatti will play Brian Wilson's therapist in this movie about the lead member of The Beach Boys. John Cusack stars as Wilson.

SEDUCING INGRID BERGMAN---movie underway based on the novel about Ingrid Bergman's affair with famed war photographer Robert Capa.

KILL ME DEADLY---CRIMINAL MINDS stars Joe Mantegna and Kirsten Vangness are using the Kickstarter fund-raiser for a noir-style comedy movie based on their 2009 play which also co-starred Lesley-Anne Down.

A PROPHET---Sony Pictures acquired the US remake rights to the French movie about a young mobster's rise to power.

FRIDAY THE 13Th---another movie in the franchise is underway at Paramount Pictures. Paramount is also in the early stages of developing another SOUTH PARK movie.

SPY---untitled hispanic spy series underway for the El Rey network about a superstar soccer player and playboy who moonlights as a spy for the CIA. Roberto Orci will write the plot script which will be directed by Robert Rodriguez.

I quite enjoyed the recent remake/reboot...I wonder if the forthcoming one will be a continuation, or another reboot?

Bad Robot doesn't necessarily mean that JJ Abrams will have anything to do with this (if that's what you're sighing at?) and my guess is that with his huge movie career and SW Episode VII coming up, he won't. They've produced shows for many years in which JJ Abrams has had nearly zero input during the run (Lost, Fringe, Person of Interest, Alcatraz, Revolution, probably some others?).

And all those shows are goddamned awful.

So even if Mr Abrams isn't doing it, his merry band of half-talents are.

I reiterate: SIGH.

It took me awhile to finish King's book, "Under the Dome", as It would bore me after awhile (and I'm a King fan). I'd put it down, weeks would go by and I'd pick it back up etc etc. Finally finished it and was disappointed at the deus ex machina ending.

That said, I WILL be watching the series

I am surprised CHRISTOPHER LEE didn't get into that series THE BORGIAS, since he said he is relative to THE BORGIAS.

Wow, sorry to hear about the end of the Borgias. Was finally able to check out several episodes of the final season of the series and thought it was most excellent. I will buy all seasons when we get back to the US.
