Listening to this box set again today, in anticipation of this Friday, and I find I can't even listen to the version on the LLL disc anymore. It's that awful at the wrong speed. What I'm surprised about is why LLL is so tight-lipped about it. I've e-mailed and tweeted them (politely!) in the past, asking what happened, and also whether or not the stand-alone CD of the first film has the corrected track. No answer. Usually MV is pretty forthcoming with this stuff. Again, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the box set, but it would be nice to have an officially available version of this track at the correct speed.

NP: LLL's THE GOLDEN CHILD.

Has anyone here picked up the vinyl for FRIDAY THE 13TH (the first part)? I'd really love to know if a corrected version of "Sail Away Tiny Sparrow" has been released officially.

Having recently purchased the bluray of the film, then re-visting the box set today it jolted my memory regarding the speed change.

Did any other site or forum expand on why the speed changes were made and/or whether the LLL version was the intended version originally but changed in Post-Production or vice a versa?

Nope, no explanations and complete silence from LLL. It's odd as they don't usually stay silent on these things. The song was definitely not sped up for the film; it was slowed down either purposefully or not for the CD release. The vocalist is a woman with a fairly soprano voice.

Honestly, I just wish MV would answer the query and we could be done with it. I also can't seem to verify if the standalone CD of the first film also includes the song at the wrong speed.

This is a recording I just made of the opening of the song from the Waxwork vinyl.

Yep, that's the incorrect speed, alright. Terrible. I truly don't understand how even on the vinyl it has never been corrected, which truly leads me to believe this is purposeful for some bizarre reason. If memory serves, this post and surely others like it sprung up long before the vinyl was pressed.

Thank you for clearing up this mystery within the mystery, though, Films On Way (great name, by the way!). We now know the vinyl includes the same version.
