I just discovered after days of wondering of the score to "This is the End" by Annie Award-winning composer Henry Jackman (Wreck-It Ralph) will be released in any form, the score to that film WILL in fact be released on its own. And I just discovered this through this link:
The link indicates that this is a promo CD, so I wouldn't expect this to get any kind of official release. these things do turn up on ebay occasionally though so I'd keep an eye out there.
I saw the film today. I can only imagine that the serviceable noodling that constitutes a lot of Jackman's work (GI Joe, Abe Lincoln, X-Men) is forced on him by higher-ups.
This was a terrific score. He should be allowed to write more music like this. That promo CD might be super-expensive and hard-to-obtain, but it's awesome that it even exists.
Too bad... any chance to see This is the End released on its own or coupled with another score?
Its possible but doubtful.
The release may happen at some point just not in January as scheduled.
And before you conspiracy theorist jump to conclusions there are NO pressed up cds sitting here. The artwork was nearly approved but then the project got canceled before anything went to press.

Forgive me but I'm still confused - why would This Is The End be cancelled? I thought it was only The Interview that had a problem.

Better late than never... I guess it could be coupled with some of those excellent Teddy Castellucci's or Theodore Shapiro's unreleased scores - unless of course you managed to include This is the End only as bonus score for The Interview release and Sony has no interest to release any of those older great Shapiro/Castellucci's scores (or perhaps still missing score album of xXx: State of the Union) on their own.
This is just nonsense. Sony really is really wanting to erase all traces of anything related to The Interview. Sad the cd is cancelled as that could have been a great seller maybe.
Well Sony just won't distribute the movie... perhaps some other studio will and the score will get released eventually when the new distributor picks it up and sets the new release date. Either way it won't be combined with Sony's This is the End - unless Sony will come back to its senses and decides to release the movie in spite all of this bullshit.
