I notice that the new trailer for ALAN PARTRIDGE: ALPHA PAPA reveals (in the credit block at the end) that the film will be scored by Ilan Eshkeri. It will be interesting to see how much score the film has. I don't remember the I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE series ever having any score, but the film has a more high concept scenario than the usual walking to the garage to buy a Ginsters' pastie. Looks good though, nice to see a meaty role for Colm Meaney!
An interesting choice of composer...I was hoping for David Arnold myself, but hey ho! - Eshkeri will do just fine. Very much looking forward to this movie...one of the great comedy characters of all time...but I think I'll be seeing it alone (the Missus hates him!)...and yes, even in the trailer it looks like Colm is having a roaring time...good to see him.
I must admit the disgruntled employee/ hostage plot left me a bit uneasy. If you live in the states you understand
So, it has funny bits but overall suffered from a distinct lack of originality - and TOPICALITY. I mean the whole theme concerning radio stations/djs vs. computers etc is old, OLDE
