I don't remember ever really saving up for something. As a kid, money usually burned a hole in my pocket, so as soon as I got some I would spend it. All those tens the grandparents gave me whenever they visited were gone within days. Haha!

The closest, though, was when I got the Sega Genesis in 1991 or '92. My parents didn't have the money to spend on it, so mom made me a deal: if I could sell my Nintendo and games to make at least half the money needed, she'd match the other half. So I sold my Nintendo and some games to a friend down street, and started selling the rest of the games to friends at school. Once I had enough, my mom took me to Toys R Us and we split the price on the Genesis and a game to go with it.
