WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19
ANGER MANAGEMENT---Selma Blair's firing from the sitcom was confirmed by Lionsgate Television after Charlie Sheen demanded her dismissal or he would walk out. Sheen's demand came after Blair supposedly complained about Sheen's work ethic to the producers.
VERONICA MARS---first photo released as filming began on the movie. Creator Rob Thomas said, "She transferred away from Hearst college after that freshman year and went up to Stanford and finished her undergraduate degree. And then she went to Columbia Law School. She's certainly been back to Neptune from time to time to see her dad and Mac and Wallace, but she hasn't worked a PI case since the last one we all saw in the final episode of Season 3."
"She ruined her dad's chance for re-election and she decided that that path had caused too much chaos in her life. And so she hasn't worked a PI case in nine years ... She's between having graduated and taken the bar and she's interviewing at various law firms in New York...there will be an opportunity for Veronica to do her thing again."
LOGAN'S RUN---Ken Levine (BIOSHOCK video game) will write the script for the Warner Bros. remake of the 1976 movie which starred Michael York and Jenny Agutter.
STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---George Lucas commented, "I have not spoken to J.J. He’s been busy with Star Trek, and I’m sure that he’ll let me know when he’s got some questions. So, you know, that’s all going well. Kathy [Kennedy] tells me it’s working out great."
EPSILON---Greg Berlanti (ARROW) will direct this sci fi movie from the writers of ZOMBIELAND in which a robot rebellion has failed, and surviving robots are raising humans on a space station until one man decides to rebel.
THE WATER DIVINER---Russell Crowe is in negotiations to direct this movie set after World War I in which an Australian father travels to Turkey to find his two missing sons after the Battle of Gallipoli.
JURASSIC PARK 4---the 3D sequel will premiere in the summer of 2015. Steven Spielberg is the producer and will consult on the writing of the script.
QUARRY---Mary Elizabeth Winstead (LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD) will co-star with Logan Marshall Green (PROMETHEUS) in this Cinemax pilot about a disillusioned sniper and Vietnam veteran who becomes an assassin.
THE LEFTOVERS---Liv Tyler will co-star with Justin Theroux in this HBO/Damon Lindelof pilot about people still remaining in a small town after the Rapture.
PENNY DREADFUL---Juan Antonio Bayona will direct the first two episodes of this Showtime psycho-sexual horror series which includes Dracula and Frankenstein's monster.
DOLPHIN TALE 2---the sequel is underway with Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman and Kris Kristofferson in negotiations to return as is director Charles Martin Smith.
SPECTRAL---supernatural movie underway at Warner Bros. in which a special ops unit battles ghosts who have invaded Manhattan.
JULIET---movie underway in which a young woman discovers she's a direct descendant of Juliet from Romeo and Juliet.
DUMB AND DUMBER 2---the Farrelly Brothers announced that Universal Pictures has picked up the sequel after Warner Bros. passed on it.
COPS AND ROBOTS---comedy movie underway in which a veteran human cop is teamed up with the world's first robot cop.
THE PROPHET---animated movie underway based on the best-selling book by Khalil Gibran with voices by Liam Neeson, Salma Hayek, Frank Langella, Alfred Molina and John Krasinski.
