Wow. Good job on this, both film and score.

The film is a very reasonable theory regarding the true event on which it is based. Despite a lamentation over the absence of Russian accents, it is superb. Absolutely in the family of Das Boot, Crimson Tide, and The Hunt For Red October. Excellent special features as well.

The score reminds me of The Hunt For Red October: very melodic, military, and suspenseful. It is a genuine kind of score, and Mr. Rona deserves full applause for his creation. Recommended.

I look forward to listening to the music on its own (eventually).

Hey Warlok. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the film, but having listened to the score numerous times, I can tell you it is indeed excellent independently. Highly recommended!

FYI, there's an existing thread on it, with a disappointing number of replies:

I don't get the lamentations on the lack of Russian accents. To me, they should either go all the way and speak Russian, or justspeak English and forget about that detail of realism. Accents would be a really half-assed attempt at some kind of realism.

Is the score available in some way ?

Or you should go the McTiernan way, they start in Russian, and it fades to english (Red October, 13th Warrior...)

As to why the lack of accents is a detraction: they`re Russian.

This is one of those movies where I heard some samples and subsequently bought the score , long before having seen the film.

I was very glad to see Rona score a big film like this, and that a CD is available. Hopefully he gets to do more features soon.
