What an eminently civil human being. Diplomat material. Not the kind of diplomat that snatches opportunity for his kind, but a kind that works toward a good end for all participants.
Ambassador Of Earth bearing. I am pleased to encounter (in video) such people - they help remind us of the good to which we can aspire. Thanks for the link.
When he mentioned that he wishes he could be around in 50 years to see where film music is going...I choked up a little realizing this guy is mortal (since we can so easily visit him by listening to one of his scores). The day John Williams is no longer with us will be a sad day. Very grounded and humble guy who welcomes the changes we all see in film music. He's been around long enough to know styles and methods come and go and he seems very excited about the new awareness there is for film music. Greatest film composer of all time. Can't wait for Star Wars.
Thanks for posting that! Quite simply, a lovely human being, and one of the greatest composers of all time. I'd dearly love to meet him just to say thank you for the decades of enjoyment his scores and works have bought me. He's got me through some rough times!
Purely by coincidence, I'm just getting ready to go out and see this this evening:
On this front, I wanted to repeat something that John Williams said from the podium at his Hollywood Bowl concert this past August 30. I must paraphrase, but he basically said, "Perhaps this time next year, we will be able to play you something from the new Star Wars"
