I love it too, but unfortunately this was issued back in the days when Varese could only afford to produce 30-35 min. albums and therefore some music didn't make it onto the CD including the end titles song sung by Linda Ronstadt:
If I were a record producer, I'd reissue this score in complete form and release it on vinyl too.
I don't think I've ever seen the film. I just love the album as a great 'concept album' that captures the spirit of childhood coupled with some mystical and 'exotic' elements.
What is the best source for the film version of the Ronstadt song? Is the song featured on her own album "Winter Light' the actual soundtrack version, or is it an alternative version? Anyone know? And did Preisner work on the song too, or was it written and recorded without his input?
I would love to see an expanded release of this beautiful score. As well as the song there is a lot of music not on the existing cd, including some different themes and very different arrangements. I got very familiar with the score because my kids were constantly watching the movie on DVD!
