I am really enjoying the 2nd CD in the deluxe box of the MAN OF STEEL soundtrack....it's similar in flow to many "new age" space music albums I love.....I really appreciate the journey it takes me on, and could be a good listening experience to EM fans even without seeing the movie (IMO).

Me too. I think I've listened to disc 2 much more than disc 1. It's a perfect little suite with an extended version of the main theme before the 12 percussionists were brought in.
There's also a really good, unused track called "earth" that sounds like early 90's Zimmer. It could easily play in Thelma & Louise or Rain Man.

And "Arcade" is one of the best cues on the whole album and is sure to appear in future trailers.

Great post Char-El! You're completely on point with my thoughts as well!

And Mutie, you got it! "Earth" and "Arcade" are AWESOME! Great stuff from the maestro Z!

Maestro (/'ma?stro?/; Italian: [ma'estro]) (from the Italian maestro, meaning "master" or "teacher"[1]) is a title of extreme respect given to a master musician.

By extension, it is used in English to designate a master in an artistic field, usually someone with strong knowledge who instructs others in the field.

So, Hamzimmer can be many things, but a "maestro" he is not.

maestro Z!

Is this a sequel to World War Z?

I hope he continues to do this. It's pretty cool hearing the early versions especially with more of a synth-based sound.

I would have loved to hear his Sherlock Holmes sketchbook.

I haven't been able to listen to the soundtrack since I saw and hated the movie (sorry), but I agree with Mutant. I'd even accept JUST the sketchbook as the album, like the good ol' days of Zimmer.

Yeah, the movie sucked big time. But give it some time and come back to it. Check out the "Earth" cue. Classic Z.

Yor, Zimmer is certainly experienced and he not only "instructs others in the field" but formed a studio devoted to doing so! Whether you (or I) like his music or not, you just made a pretty convincing argument for him being called "maestro"...even though he probably wouldn't accept the accolade himself.

That cannot be aplied to Hamzimmer, sorry.

Do you have the regular edition, or the steel book?

I have the steelbook (which is mighty impressive in and of itself). I think the sketchbook track is the best thing on there, really. But again, I haven't been able to listen to any of it since the movie came out, so who knows what I think now! Haha

Well, as I said "Earth" went unused in the film. It also sounds like an early demo. Check it out, if you dare!

But yeah, the movie left a bad taste in my mouth. I can only hope that part 2 actually resembles a superman movie and gives Z more opportunities to employ the uplifting main theme in scenes where superman actually, you know, rescues people?

Thanks for reminding me of the ignore function. You' and a bunch of Zimmer fanboys are now officially on my ignore list.

I think the ignore list is actually the worst thing to happen to this board.

How is it "discussion" if you can choose to completely block out people whose opinions who might not agree with?

Reading the phrase "Zimmer is a hack!" Over and over again isn't really a discussion, is it?
Trust me, the people on my ignore list haven't ever contributed anything close to a "discussion" - just Neanderthal pot-shots meant to stir people up.

Sad times when you see Superman crying for censorship...
