WEDNESDAY, JULY 3

MACHETE KILLS---new poster shows Carlos Estevez (Charlie Sheen) as the President of the United States. Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Antonio Banderas and Cuba Gooding, Jr. also star.

SHARKNADO---Syfy movie described as, “After a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace. And when the high-speed winds form tornadoes in the desert, nature’s deadliest killer rules water, land, and air.” Ian Ziering, Tara Reid and John Heard star. Premiere is July 11. Syfy vice president Thomas Vitale said, “These are not comedies. They have that outlandish, campy, over-the-top tone, but the people involved are real and want to survive. If you were in a situation where all of a sudden you have sharks falling from the sky, once you got over the insanity of it, you’d try to survive.”

FALLING SKIES---TNT renewed the series for Season 4.

SILVER SURFER---Stan Lee commented on a Silver Surfer movie from Marvel Studios although the movie rights are owned by 20th Century Fox, "There s no way they won't eventually do a SILVER SURFER movie. It may not be for a few years because they're thinking and working on DOCTOR STRANGE, BLACK PANTHER, ANT MAN, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. But they'll get around to a SILVER SURFER feature because he's a wonderful character."

THE GRAPES OF WRATH---DreamWorks is in negotiations for the remake movie rights to the John Steinbeck novel with Steven Spielberg as producer. The Oscar-winning 1940 John Ford movie starred Henry Fonda.

THE SOUND AND THE FURY---Jon Hamm and Danny McBride will star in this movie based on the William Faulkner novel with James Franco as director, co-writer and co-star.

Right after I stopped laughing hysterically I'm sure my survival instincts would take over. Until I started laughing again.

This is the kind of movie you'd expect Tara Reid to appear in, but John Heard?

"Piranharrhea: The Deadly Discharge".

Oh great. So then nobody dies, everyone strikes it rich in Californee, and for damn sure Rosasharn won't have to feed a dying man her milk.

Mildly surprising. Seems more “stars” are in SyFy films nowadays. Independence Daysaster showed recently with Tom Everett Scott in a supporting role. I can’t wait for Sharknado! I actually enjoy some of these flicks. They’re about as close to the Grade-Z-Drive-In-premiere movies of my childhood as you can get. I don’t know what kind of salaries they get for SyFy films, but I imagine it pays the bills. I remember Michael Caine’s quote when asked why he made Jaws The Revenge: “For the money!”

This may not be a popular opinion, but to hell with it: Tara Reid is too good for this.
