For the life of me I cannot recall the name of a movie I saw and loved some years back - 1990s or 2000s maybe. It was about an older English (could have been Scottish, Welsh or Irish) who finally learns how to swim.
I am sure someone here can recall or if not, will promptly tell me I am delusional. I am hoping that I am merely having a brain #%$%.
And some not quite related films you might find interesting:
THE SWIMMER - Burt Lancaster - superb score by Marvin Hamlisch; LA PISCINE - Romy Schneider, Alain Delon - beautiful, haunting score by Michel Legrand; WELCOME - Vincent Lindon - score is a mess, but the movie is a stirring tale about an iranian illegal immigrant in France who dreams of making it to Britain and playing football in Manchester. It's a French flick, but the Iranian boy can only speak English with the French swimming instructor who takes him under his wing. Moving, yet never maudlin. A minor masterpiece. Recommended.

Anyone? I appreciate your assistance.
Sounds like 'On A Clear Day' to me. 2005.
Bada bing! markbagby, you would win the prize if I had one to give. This is the movie I was trying to recall. Thanks so much. I found the trailer on YouTube:
I unsuccessfully tried googling to find the film you're looking for, but in the process found this, which is pretty funny:
That is very funny. It kind of brings me back to another thread here about America's aversion to Speedo bathing suits on men. You would never see an ad here - animated etc - with a man wearing a Speedo.
This is not the film I was thinking but this a close second! Thanks.

Oh the beautiful Romy Schneider and handsome Alain Delon! I actually listened to the song "Ask Yourself Why" I will definitely look at the rest of this score. Thank you.
