You will note, my dear Watson, that while Roger freely identifies one release as a Signature Edition, he fails to say specifically what the other one was in its original incarnation, other than to call it "an Intrada album". So one might deduce that this was not originally designated as an Excalibur, Signature or even a Special Collection edition. But what does that mean Holmes? It means, Watson, that it must be their 1989 Rio Conchos CD, which was indeed labeled only as an "Intrada". Go Watson and check their site. Does the old version show up there? I'll look immediately..... By Jove Holmes... it is NOT listed any longer! But what of the additional End Title part of the clue? Elementary my dear Watson. Goldsmith recorded it at the time, but deemed its very brief duration unworthy of the album. So he left it off. Now, with the recording ripe for a remastered re-release, our friends at Intrada have decided to add it. Brilliant Holmes! Brilliant!

>>>>>>>>One release is a Signature Edition from an obscure 1989 TV movie by a favorite composer around these parts. I wish he was more of a favorite with everyone else though>>>>>>> Terry Plumeri ?

I was thinking about Laurece Rosenthal's Bourne Identity. But on a second thought... could it be Billy the Kid ??!!

Doug's Corner: 7/8/13 Two new releases will be announced late this afternoon, with artwork and samples giving you a preview. Both new CDs begin shipping tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9. One offers a world premiere release in stereo for a TV movie score by one of the more honored of the small screen's composers. The other release offers a remastered (and very slightly expanded) reissue of what was at the time also a world premiere, and a significant milestone for both the composer and our label back in the day. Neat stuff! http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5662

In 1999, Film Score Monthly released the original tracks of Rio Conchos: http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/detail.cfm/CDID/65/Rio-Conchos/ It has long since sold out, and used copies now go for $50 at Screen Archives, or $33 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006SSQL6/ So - assuming tonight's title is indeed Rio Conchos - will this new re-issue of the 1989 Intrada re-recording now include not only the re-recorded End Title, but a second disc with the film tracks as well? I hope it does, and think it should.

One of my favorite Goldsmith scores, for whatever reason, and one where I actually prefer the smooth sound of the re-recording over the archival, drug-store-cassette-quality sound that's unfortunately typical of most Fox-sourced releases.

Come to think of it, the re-recording was done years after the fact... it was not a re-recording done at the time of the film's release for the original soundtrack album. So it wouldn't make sense to include the film tracks on a re-issue of it. My bad.
