Coming soon from GDM in Italy is a re-issue of Ennio Morricone's I MAGI RANDAGI, in my humble opinion one of his best scores of the 1990's. The new edition is supposed to have better sound quality and also two bonus tracks:
La storia dei magi randagi (2:29) Dopo 30 anni (3:45)
The old CAM release has received numerous playings from me over the years as I find this score to be one of the Maestro's very best and most interesting. Beautiful themes both dramatic, romantic, stunning arrangements, unusual choral parts, it's all here. I generally try to avoid re-buying scores for just a couple of bonus tracks but this one looks very tempting to me.
I love the melody that James mentions. It´s absolutely gorgeous and one of the most played pieces in my entire Morricone collection. The first time I heard it was in a record store and I got tears in my eyes. I second James opinion that the violin version is the best, but they are all wonderful. Edda´s voice is very sad in the her version. There are also two beautiful violin pieces in the score.
I´d love to read a review of this score at movie wave James.

Thanks for bringing this up, Dorian. Your remarks paired with those tiny but wonderful samples provided by SoundtrackCollector.com (http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/8992/Magi+Randagi%2C+I) sold me ... hooked already. I'm looking forward to hearing this in its totality!
I am super excited about this release. One of the very few Morricone CDs that I don`t have because the oop CD always was a bit too expensive for me. Besides it`s a wonderful score. So I am really looking forward to it.
