So, the score has been rejected ?

The big news was reported at FilmMusicReporter.com. New composer already recorded hi score.

Those sheets beg the question. if they can credit specific orchestrators on individual cues on the sheet music, why not on the soundtracks?

If they can't credit the composers on "Zimmer" scores, why should anyone bother with giving credit to the orchestrators?

Exactly.

It's probably a cost thing. They probably have to pay somebody to pull the cue sheets and get the information.

For example, there's a minimun fee to get a musician's list for a score (something like $75 a believe, and it's for a minimum three scores look up).

Actually, I think Zimmer is pretty up-front about crediting "additional composers" on his albums, and even the end credits of the movies he works on. Name one Zimmer score that doesn't credit three "additional music by..." composers and half-a-dozen orchestrators.

That would imply authorship, which in most cases would be unfair to the composer, and would undoubtedly create all sorts of theories among know-nothing know-it-alls about who really was responsible for this or that sound. I believe that the credits on the sheet music are not there so the orchestrator can receive acclaim, but so that if there is an error or inconsistency on the music itself, the right person is alerted to clear it up. (I suspect this also needs to be logged in the cue sheets for ASCAP/BMI purposes, but I'm not certain of that.)

Indeed. And it's those very credits that create such contempt among so many here. But they love to play all sides of the argument, don't they?

and orchestrators don't always get such a credit?
The point was giving them credit for the specific cues they worked on in the CD notes. I haven't seen that on any Zimmer score since The Rock when Don Harper got the credit for The Chase cue in the film (not sure if it was listed in the CD notes as well). I doubt that Zanelli for example will receive any credit for the final cue in that recent western garbage I can't remember right now.

He did in the end credits, as I recall (they scrolled by awfully fast).

Not just Zanelli but how about Susie Seiter and the rest of the crew? (And let's consider for a moment that 85% of the "Finale" was written by the long-deceased Gioachino Rossini. I wonder if he'll be upset?)
