My Dearest, I'm a big fan of everything you've done, from the outer space record with Harry Revel, to the soundtrack of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. And in between. As a lifelong Monkees fan, I'm happy to have obtained all of the Missing Links volumes, DVD box sets, deluxe album reissues, etc., in addition to having the original LPs. HOWEVER... I am not the only Monkees fan who DEMANDS the incidental music from the TV programme on CD. What are the odds? All my admiration, Lounge Laura P.S. Please release "Music from Out of Space" also.

Dear Lounge Laura, I realize that your post was from two years ago, but in case I did not reply I am now. When the Monkees was mixed on the dubbing stage, there were only three tracks available to record on. One was dedicated to the dialogue, one to wild lines, overdubs, and the songs. The last track was for sound effects and music. So there is not a music track only from the mix. The background music was recorded at RCA studios and not at Screen Gems. The original tapes were at some point in time sent over to Screen Gems. When Rhino Records acquired the Monkees material some years ago, I tried desperately to get Rhino to release the background music in conjunction with my Monkees' LP of the songs that I recorded with the Golden Gate Strings. After many years all that could be found at Sony Pictures (where the Screen Gems shows ended up), were two episodes on tape amounting to about 17 minutes of music. Rhino decided against any release. That's the story. Sorry for the delayed answer. Stu, while I might have you here, would you happen to have done any episodes in the second season of "Mrs. Columbo"? There's no full listing of composers onlie for the series and a couple episodes made me think you were the composer, though I didn't find any mention elsewhere.
