Doug Fake in 2007: "While poor cassette dubs and CDRs abound, true master elements for the majority of this score remain missing. Though a license can probably be negotiated for the album rights, the recording sessions were done here. So AFM fees also still apply, if the actual session masters can be located. There were separate orchestral sessions, piano sessions and electronic sessions. Where everything ended up is a mystery. We've found a small part of them but that's it so far. We'll keep our eyes peeled... --Doug"

Sounds like a prime candidate for a reconstruction by Prometheus / James Fitz / CPPO (also Damnation Alley seeing as the synth parts seem to be MIA).
Not at all a good candidate for re-recording, actually. The burps and beeps of this score and the synths in general would make this as impossible to recreate as Logan's Run.

For the life of me I can swore I saw a LP COPY OF THIS SOUNDTRACK IN FOOTLIGHTS in New York in the 80's going for something like $75.00, I DIDN'T BUY IT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ON ANY OF MY CUSTOMER'S WANT LIST. The cover was blank, so it might have been a b------.. I really miss FOOTLIGHTS, New York is just quite not the same since it went out of business.
There was an LP on the Monogram label back in the 80's which had half of the score on one side and half of "Islands In The Stream" on the other. Nice to have but the sound was not great and so much of the score is missing.
Someone's selling a copy on eBay I just noticed...

Tragically poor sound, so save your money, folks. It was the only thing there was for the superb ISLANDS IN THE STREAM for a long time, but as good as the music was, it was hard to listen to. As I recall, REINCARNATION was even worse sounding.

RUBBISH.....
There area folks out there who are ELECTRONIC Geeks who LIVE to create those sounds from 60's,70's and 80's keyboards and synth's.
It might take a bit of time and finding the right person to do it, but it's very possible to recreate those sounds.
So ANYONE who says it's impossible to recreate these tracks is flat out WRONG.
All it takes is the willingness to do the work to get it down.
LOGAN's RUN could be recreated, as could PETER PROUD.
I agree with Ford. The synths in THE SALAMANDER sound perfect to me. No reason why someone like Leigh Phillips couldn't emulate the sound of PETER PROUD for another fine re-recording.

Dont' doubt it for one second.

I'll take your rubbish and raise you an "Iiiii don't THINK so!"

Nope, the statement and mindset is RUBBISH.
I make that statement based on my experience of 25 years of working in this field.
The moment you say it can't be done, I know there is a way to do it.

Is it known if Goldsmith wrote the synths down in a detailed fashion like sheet music, with instructions regarding synthesizer settings and such, or was much of it him winging it by himself, without much documentation?
Are the syths the only missing elements, or are the orchestral and piano recordings haphazard as well?
Also, has there been any further investigation into locating the original masters? It's a matter of luck and circumstance, I suppose. Rather like archeology.
