Here is a question for folks who are in the film industry, be it producer, director actor etc etc. The other night I was looking at many of the contracts signings I had for the movies I made from the actors tech crews etc etc. I always wondered where the workers wrote in their social security number, did they really give their number or a false one, for their own protection. I know in this world we live in ssn numbers are held by so many people and with trusting hope they don't get misused . But I got a little shiver down my spine thinking I could have in my possession thousands of entertainers SS NUMBERS, any first hand experiences or comments? I never really thought about this issue much, maybe I shouldn't?
Not a first hand opinion but Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general is a very tight group. The best way to kill your career and get black listed for life is to mishandle confidential information of any kind. So I don't think its much of a threat.
If the contracts were what the person's salary was based on for tax purposes, they would have to put their real SS number so that the Feds knew how much money you made so they could be sure and tax you properly. Putting in a false number is like being paid under the table. The IRS doesn't ever get notice of those payments.
