WEDNESDAY, JULY 24
JERSEY BOYS---Christopher Walken will play mobster Gyp DeCarlo in the Clint Eastwood movie version of the Broadway musical about Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The script is by John Logan (SKYFALL).
YUKIKAZE---Tom Cruise will star in this movie based on the Japanese sci fi novel in which a hyper-dimensional portal appears over Antarctica allowing aliens to invade Earth.
THE EXPENDABLES 3---Kellan Lutz is in talks to co-star in the sequel. Mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey and boxer Victor Ortiz have signed. Mel Gibson, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Milla Jovovich are reportedly in negotiations to co-star.
STRETCH---Jessica Alba has joined the cast of Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Brooklyn Decker, David Hasselhoff and Ray Liotta in this comedy movie about a Los Angeles limousine driver who pays off his gambling debt by driving a weird billionaire passenger who is selling off his list of criminal associates to the highest bidder.
INTERSTELLAR---Topher Grace (THAT 70'S SHOW, SPIDER-MAN 3) has joined the cast of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow and Casey Affleck in this Christopher Nolan movie about space travel.
POLTERGEIST---Rosemarie DeWitt has signed on for the lead female role in the remake of the 1982 Tobe Hooper horror movie.
SATELLITE WEAPON---untitled Cameron Crowe movie in which a defense contractor supervisor and a female USAF pilot are convinced to stop the launch of a satellite weapon from Hawaii by the island's mystical forces and a talking computer. Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams and Danny McBride star.
SQUIRREL TO THE NUTS---Peter Bogdanovich comedy movie in which a married Broadway director falls in love with and helps the career of an actress who used to be a hooker. Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, Cybill Shepherd and Richard Lewis star.
WAYWARD PINES---Terrence Howard has joined the cast of Matt Dillon and Carla Gugino in this Fox miniseries about a federal agent who investigates the disappearances of two fellow agents in a small Idaho town. M. Night Shyamalan is the executive producer.
GRAN TURISMO---Sony Pictures movie underway based on the PlayStation video game.
FRIENDS---Lisa Kudrow denied rumors that a movie based on the tv series is underway.
ANT-MAN---director Edgar Wright said Dr. Hank Pym is in the movie.
WELCOME TO WILLITS---comedy horror movie underway about a Northern California marijuana grower who encounters strange creatures responsible for several abductions.
THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7---Paul Greenhouse (THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM) is in talks to direct the movie about seven anti-war demonstrators on trial after the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.
THE GIRL: A LIFE IN THE SHADOW OF ROMAN POLANSKI---book by Samatha Geimer who was 13 years old in 1977 when she was drugged and raped by Polanski during a modelling photo shoot in Jack Nicholson's home. The book's cover photo was one of the photos taken by Polanski during the shoot which led to her rape. Publication is September 6.
SHIRLEY JONES---autobiography in which Jones comments on her sex life including a threesome during her youth, her marriage to former husband Jack Cassidy, whom she described as a "sexual Svengali" and her adulterous affair with Cole Porter. She said about sex with current husband Marty Ingels, "Luckily, Marty thinks I've still got a beautiful body, even though it is old, and every now and again I take all of my clothes off in front of him and shake my [breasts] at him, and he loves it."
