Great Scott, great post! I count myself as an admirer, too. And on top of all that talent he's a very sweet gentleman as well...my wife Francesca and I had a really nice chat with him at one of John Morgan's house parties and I remember being shocked at some of the hilarious things he said because he's very quiet-spoken. You should have attended the many film music festivals in Spain over the past few years Kari. It was a great way to meet and chat to many film music composers, in Ubeda especially, which had such a chilled, laid back atmosphere, instead of the usual hustle/bustle/"sign this/sign this" pandemonium that used to go on before. You could really relax, drink some beer/wine and amble about amongst such cool dudes as Basil Poledouris (what a lovely guy he was), Bruce Broughton, John Ottman, John Frizzell and John Debney (to name just some). Good times. I've been playing Final Countdown and Mill On The Floss a lot recently, really getting to know them, while still revisiting the magnificence that is Antony & Cleopatra and Greystoke. Even Yor got another play through. I really love that dreamy village theme he uses. The Main Theme is chunky, clunky 80's fun and the baddie march is a fun riff on the Imperial March from TESB.
