There are too many record labels. Say what??? In this little world of film scores we should not complain. We should be greatful for everyone who is in that business, they do it for us (and the fact that they like us love film music) so compared to every other music styles and the record labels in those areas I doubt that there are too many record labels. Instead of "making sure Perseverance Records is going down" as some people apparently have said I hope that they solve it in other ways. What I find really silly is this debate is still going on. Really, if Esterhammer was this bootlegger that so many call him, why is he still in business and not homeless or begging for quarters on a street corner? In my world if somebody messed with my property they'd be sued, plain and simple. Seems a lot of crying over spilt milk here from producers and fans. As a fan who lurks I ask you guys this: How many albums has Esterhammer produced and how many of them are legit? I would be willing to bet the vast majority are legit and none of the competitive producers have claimed otherwise. What we keep going round and round on are the 5 or 6 mistakes this guy has made. Doug Fake said it best, let's hope he stops the mistakes and does what he's pretty much been doing for the last couple years, give us good legit reissues. Can we stop pitting labels against each other and enjoy the music they put out for us? So frustrating to read this stuff. /rant off Since somebody locked that other thread I need to say about Witches Of Eastwick. I get the need for expansions but the CD sounds good and even Lukas said he legitimately licensed that. Whether Warner wants to work with the guy or they don't, I don't blame any small label for not wanting to pay these extreme costs to license what amounts to minutes of music. Soem of us do enjoy the presentation of an album versus the kitchen sink approach to expanded editions nowadays. Rain Man was complete bullocks and a travesty. Over."    Posted:   Jul 25, 2013 - 6:27 PM     By:   haineshisway   (Member) I don't know how ever to completely know, but I could confidently shout from a mountaintop that the following companies have always released, and will always release legally: Intrada Varese Sarabande La La Land Records Film Score Monthly (retired) The only reason I know is because they have a long standing history, and are well regarded by just about everybody. They wouldn't still be around if they didn't know what they were doing. Doug Fake, Robert Townson, MV Gerhardt, Matt Verboys, and Lukas Kendall have high standards as do their product. I would be surprised to see "bootlegger" used in a sentence with these guys. There are some other labels that don't have the same respect due to questionable practices (we all know who they are). I never see that happening within the four labels mentioned above and I don't think we ever will! -Rick O. Why didn't you include in that list to Quartet or Kritzerland? I think that all their editions are legal. Why indeed. These people who only seem to think there are four record labels doing the good stuff is truly baffling to me. But it happens in every thread. Sometimes we're left out, sometimes others are left out. This is the only way to be sure. Only if it were that simple for most of us.
