My bet is on Brian Tyler. Rambo, Expendables, he's got the current track record with Stallone. I imagine Tyler will try to incorporate some of Conti's style into the score, but my expectations for this film and score will probably not be very high...

Nobody knows the ROCKY sound better than Conti. Why get someone to incorporate Conti's style when you can get Conti himself?

The movie opens November 25th! I sure hope Conti scores it!

Has the movie even began shooting yet? If not then don´t hold your breath.

Yes, it began shooting a month ago.

The film has a director now. A newbie named Ryan Coogler, according to IMDb.

Hopefully he will hire Conti. If they're going to monoploize on a character, the son of a one-time character, and the franchise rather than stand out their own feet with new characters unrelated to the Rocky universe, then stay the course and hire the composer who helped make it was it is.

And it's not Conti:

Good choice!
Although I would have prefered his "master", who is probably WAY too busy these days with everything on his schedule and two more soon to be announced excellent titles.

I can predict a score with a lot of sample and hip hop sound.

Too bad, I think it`s a great choice. I am not only saying this since he`s from Sweden just like me but I do think it is an unusual "out of the box" thinking of the filmmakers. Because someone so far unknown composer gets the spotlight on such a film as this. You do know that there is a lot of composers out there who is not a big name but is very talented but because of the fact that they are not a name so they can`t get any bigger movies to show people what they can do.

I'm sure Goransson is a fine composer, but honestly this film holds no interest for me now. I'll stick with MAD MAX FURY ROAD and the new Spielberg film!smile

Prepared to give this the benefit of the doubt... Its not more offensive than the idea of someone other than Stallone writing the screen play at the end of the day

i'm hopeful if they don't get Bill Conti back they at least use his music.

I think I read somewhere they don't want to use any ROCKY music. So I gave Goransson the benefit of the doubt, so I have been listening to his work. In all honesty it does absolutely nothing for me. I find it quite boring and uninspired. But he's their choice, so what can you do?

Well, both Conti and Newman have been in the game for years and have scored several big movies but Goransson has not. He is still a newcomer who needs to get bigger assignments so no, I do not hope they replace him.

Great suggestion: I think Randy Newman is absolutely perfect for this.

Hey, he'd be better than Goransson!

"Goransson also continues to score Fox’s New Girl and Community "

Sounds like a perfect choice!
